A celebration of joy, hope, and shared humanity 🎄✨

ISRDS came together with the Gender and Development Office and faculty members of DPSS, for a truly heart-stirring Christmas & Year-End Party filled with laughter from fun games, moments of excitement during the exchange of gifts, and heartfelt sharing of blessings.

VSU-ISRDS Student Participates in the 2025 PSND Convention

The Institute for Strategic Research and Development Studies (ISRDS) proudly acknowledges the participation of Ms. Francheska Terese C. Matiga, Master of Science in Development Sociology student, in the 2025 Philippine Stakeholders for Nutrition and Dietetics (PSND) Convention held on September 3–4, 2025 at the Umali Auditorium, Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA), University of the Philippines Los Baños.

Organized with the theme “PSND SHINES: Sustainable Health through Innovations in Nutrition and Empowerment of Stakeholders,” the convention gathered national experts, practitioners, and institutions across the fields of nutrition, health, agriculture, and governance. The two-day event featured plenary sessions, technical presentations, and stakeholder engagements that addressed:

✅The current health and nutrition situation in the Philippines in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals;
✅Innovative approaches to sustainable nutrition and food security;
✅Applications of digital technology in nutrition and health systems;
✅Trends and innovations in nutrition and health promotion; and
✅A Learning Exchange Visit at UPLB research, extension, and academic units designed to facilitate knowledge sharing, showcase technologies, and foster institutional partnerships

The event likewise underscored the role of the BIDANI Network Program, where the Visayas State University—through ISRDS—remains an active State University and College (SUC) partner, in presenting its continuing initiatives to advance food and nutrition security in the Philippines.

The ISRDS reaffirms its commitment to advancing research, capacity-building, and partnerships that contribute to sustainable development and improved nutritional outcomes for communities across the country.

Last August 12, 2025, the Institute for Strategic Research and Development Studies (ISRDS) brought together thought leaders, advocates, and experts in a highly engaging forum at the Visayas State University, Eco-FARMI Training Room, tackling two of those pressing issues in the Philippines today—both highly relevant yet still needing greater mainstream attention.

📌 Passing the Freedom of Information (FOI) Bill – revisiting its prospects and charting pathways for joint advocacy, with in-depth discussions led by Ms. Jenina Joy Chavez and Atty. Nepomuceno “Nepo” Malaluan, Co-Convenors of the Right to Know Right Now Network (R2KRN).

📌 Building a Green Industry – exploring how the Philippines can reclaim critical minerals and develop sustainable industrial policies from the ground up, with valuable insights once again from Ms. Chavez and Atty. Malaluan, both of whom are part of the AER Industrial Policy Team.

The forum was marked by rich exchanges of ideas and collaborative planning. Activities like this are vital platforms to mainstream these critical issues, deepen public understanding, and mobilize collective action. Through open discussions, joint advocacy planning, and shared commitment, we take steps toward a more transparent, sustainable, and forward-looking Philippines.
