Civil Engineering students enchant the crowd as they strut through the parade wearing their siren-inspired costumes during the opening and closing ceremonies of Salingkusog 2025 held last February 9 and 12, respectively.

The siren-inspired costumes were brought to life by Kiara Laurente, CSSCA Head of PICE-VSUSC, in coordination with the Luring Sirens Props Committee.

Our Civil Engineering students transformed simple, recycled materials into working pendant lights as part of their Sustainable Luminaire Design Project in CEng 121n โ€“ Engineering Utilities 1. Designed for real spaces like dining and work areas, each luminaire reflects careful thought on function, safety, and everyday use.

The project gave students hands-on experienceโ€”from planning and material selection to safety and energy use. The finished luminaires demonstrate how engineering work can be both practical and creative, while also being environmentally responsible.
