VSU Folkloric Dance Troupe Founded on the year 1978, the VSU Folkloric Dance Troupe still preserves and values the Philippine Heritage through dancing the Philippine Folk Dances. Zafra.

The Visayas State University Folkloric Dance Troupe or VSU Dance Troupe was founded on the year 1978. It started with a name of ViSCA Folkloric Dance Troupe, with 12 male members and 12 female members under the tutelage of Professor Thelma C. From then on, the Troupe showcases the Philippine Folk Dances within the college as well as into invitations within or out of the college. When ViSCA was con

verted into a university named Leyte State University on 2001, the name of the troupe changed at the same time that was Leyte State University Folkloric Dance Troupe or LSU Folkloric Dance Troupe. The name changed but not the performances that the troupe has to or had offered. And, when the university again converted and renamed into Visayas State University, the name of the troupe changed again into Visayas State University Folkloric Dance Troupe or VSU Folkloric Dance Troupe and now Visayas State University Dance Company. From the time of its establishment, the dance company produced professional dancers equipped with knowledge about Philippine Folk Dances and harnessed to them the value and importance of Philippine Heritage.
