Chelsea Manalo, the proud representative of the Philippines in the Miss Universe 2024 pageant, has a heartwarming yet heartbreaking journey. Born in Bulacan, she spent her early years in the United States with her father,Mablevi Montraie Brown, where she attended Grade 1 and 2. But deep inside, Chelsea missed her mother and longed for the warmth of home. This longing led her to take a trip to the Philippines, a decision that would change her life forever.
While in the Philippines, tragedy struck. Her father, whom she had left behind in the U.S., suddenly fell ill and passed away. Stricken with grief, Chelsea made the life-altering choice to stay in the Philippines and continue her studies, forever altering the course of her future.
One of Chelsea’s most unforgettable memories is the message her father gave her just one month before he passed: “You’re my Queen and the Queen of all.” These words, filled with love and belief, have since become the foundation of her strength and determination. They echo in her heart every day, driving her to pursue her dreams with passion and resilience.
Chelsea's journey is also marked by the bittersweet reality that she didn’t carry her father's surname, Brown. At the time of her birth, her father was unable to be present in the Philippines to sign the necessary documents. The physical distance between her parents eventually led to their separation, making her story one of longing, love, and the complexities of family.
This is the story of a daughter who carries the memory of her father's love and words as she steps onto the global stage, not only as a queen but as a symbol of strength, resilience, and the unbreakable bond between father and daughter.
