October 12 2026, the Trimex Colleges Social Work Department took part in a meaningful Breast Cancer Awareness Seminar held at the Biรฑan Peopleโs Center. The event was led by two inspiring speakers โ Dr. Roy Caamud, and Ms. Celine Cornejo, who shared more than just facts โ she shared her life.
Her story touched us deeply. She spoke about how she first noticed signs that she chose to ignore at first โ small changes that she thought were nothing, until she finally decided to get checked. That was when she learned she had stage four breast cancer. Many might think that this is the end, but for her, it was only the beginning of a brave journey.
One of the most tender moments she shared was when her child noticed her hair starting to fall out. Instead of hiding it or feeling afraid, she told her child gently: "Don't be scared. If my hair is falling, it just means Mommy is healing." Those words stayed with us โ a mother turning something frightening into something hopeful.
She reminded us that stage four cancer is not the end, and it does not mean death. It means continuing to fight, continuing your medication, and continuing your treatment. Above all, she said, keep your faith in God โ because hope is always there. She also encouraged everyone to be open with their families, because they are your strength, just as you are theirs. She also taught us not to ignore the signs our bodies show us โ early detection truly saves lives.
The seminar wasn't just about learning what breast cancer is. It was about seeing that even in the hardest moments, there is courage, there is hope, and there is life โ and that we are never going through it alone.
