𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲.

The North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) – Bislig Campus, through its BTVTED Programs, successfully conducted the BTVTEd Technology Research Workshop from July 1–3, 2026, at the Vista DelyMar Event Center and Restaurant, Gangas Highway, Gamaon District, Bislig City.

Led by Asst. Prof. Virgilio T. Ombao Jr., Program Head of the BTVTEd Major in Automotive Technology, the three-day workshop enhanced participants' competencies in developing research proposals, advancing technology and investment readiness, and creating innovative, community-responsive solutions.

The initiative reflects NEMSU's commitment to fostering a culture of research, innovation, and extension, while supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

| North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) proudly celebrates another significant milestone in innovation with the granting of its 𝟑𝐫𝐝 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL).

The granted patent, titled "Aerial Seed Planting Device," showcases NEMSU's commitment to developing innovative technologies that promote sustainable environmental management, reforestation, and climate resilience. This remarkable invention reflects the ingenuity and collaborative research efforts of its inventors: Ms. Meachael B. Tanduyan, Engr. Adam C. Macapili, and Engr. Anastacio G. Pantaleon, Jr.

The Aerial Seed Planting Device is an innovative technology designed to improve the efficiency of seed dispersal in difficult-to-reach and inaccessible areas, supporting large-scale reforestation, ecosystem restoration, and sustainable land management initiatives. This invention contributes to environmental conservation while providing practical solutions for restoring degraded landscapes and strengthening biodiversity.

The NEMSU Research and Innovation Office extends its warmest congratulations to the inventors and the NEMSU Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO) for their unwavering dedication to advancing research, innovation, and intellectual property development. In line with its commitment to advancing research excellence and strengthening the competencies of its researchers, the North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) Bislig Campus participated in the iDART-R: Training on Integrated Data Analytics and Research Techniques Using R for the Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources (AANR) Sector, held on June 24–25, 2026, at Caraga State University – Main Campus, Ampayon, Butuan City.

The capability-building activity, organized by the Caraga Consortium for Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development (CCAARRD), equipped participants with practical knowledge and hands-on experience in the R Statistical Language and RStudio for data analytics, scientific visualization, statistical modeling, regression analysis, principal component analysis, generalized additive modeling, and basic mapping applications relevant to AANR research.

Representing NEMSU Bislig Campus were Ms. Catherine Hope M. Bustillo and Ms. Hannah G. Pantaleon, who actively participated in the intensive training to further enhance the University’s research capabilities and promote the application of data-driven approaches in research and development.

NEMSU Bislig extends its sincere appreciation to CCAARRD and Caraga State University for spearheading this valuable learning opportunity and remains committed to fostering a culture of research excellence through continuous professional development and capacity-building initiatives.

The Research Team of the North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) Bislig Campus participated in the Coordination Workshop on the Ancestral Domain Sustainable Development and Protection Plan (ADSDPP) for CADTs 070 and 239, held at the Bislig Highland Function Farm and Restaurant, Mangagoy, Bislig City.

Organized by the City Government of Bislig, the workshop convened government agencies, Indigenous Peoples (IP) leaders, and partner institutions to strengthen coordination in the protection, governance, and sustainable development of ancestral domains while upholding the rights, culture, and livelihoods of Indigenous Cultural Communities (ICCs) and Indigenous Peoples (IPs).

Beyond the workshop, the NEMSU Bislig Research Team also engaged in a coordination meeting with the City Planning & Development Office - Bislig City to discuss a collaborative research initiative. Both parties expressed their commitment to providing evidence-based information that will strengthen planning, policy formulation, and sustainable development initiatives for the city.

NEMSU Bislig remains committed to forging meaningful partnerships that translate research into responsive community programs, contributing to the preservation of indigenous heritage and the sustainable development of local communities.

This initiative advances the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

The North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) Bislig Campus, through its Research Office and Extension Services and Linkages Office, paid a visit to the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) – Obrero Campus to further discuss the progress of the proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and the next steps toward establishing a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the two institutions.

The visit reaffirmed the shared commitment of NEMSU Bislig and USeP to strengthen collaboration in research and extension through future joint initiatives, knowledge exchange, and community-responsive programs that contribute to sustainable development and regional growth.

As part of the visit, the NEMSU delegation was given a tour of the Metals and Engineering Innovation Center (MEIC), including its Fabrication Laboratory (FabLab), where they were introduced to various technologies, fabrication facilities, and innovation-driven projects that support research, product development, and community engagement.

NEMSU Bislig extends its appreciation to the USeP Research Team and the Metals and Engineering Innovation Center for the warm accommodation and meaningful discussions as both institutions move forward toward a stronger and more impactful partnership.

Strengthening partnerships, sharing best practices, and creating greater impact through collaboration.

The North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) Bislig Campus, headed by Campus Director For. Whelson C. Pasos, conducted a benchmarking and collaboration meeting with the Research and Extension Offices of Davao Oriental State University (DOrSU), located at Guang-guang, Dahican, City of Mati, Davao Oriental.

The NEMSU delegation, composed of Louella Jane Gabato, Research Head; Ivy Archua, Head of Extension Services and Linkages; and Research and Extension personnel, engaged in meaningful discussions with Dr. Jonathan Cabrera, Research Director, and Dr. Lanie Laureano, Extension Director, on institutional best practices in research management, extension implementation, community engagement, and impact assessment.

A key highlight of the meeting was the discussion of a prospective Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which will serve as the foundation for a future Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the two institutions. The partnership aims to foster collaborative research and extension projects and impact assessment studies that will generate meaningful outcomes for partner communities and stakeholders.

Beyond institutional collaboration, both universities recognized the importance of aligning future initiatives with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Through collaborative research and extension efforts, both institutions aim to contribute to inclusive, evidence-based, and sustainable regional development.

The activity also provided an opportunity to exchange experiences, identify common priorities, and explore innovative approaches toward strengthening research productivity and extension effectiveness across both institutions.
