Marinduque State University proudly stands with the nation in observing Open Government Week 2026 on May 18–22, a global initiative that champions transparency, accountability, and citizen participation.

As a backgrounder, Open Government Week is celebrated worldwide under the Open Government Partnership (OGP), now marking its 15th year. In the Philippines, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. directed all government agencies, state universities, and local governments to host their own Open Government Day during this week, institutionalized through Proclamation No. 916 (2025). The observance highlights the country’s commitment to openness, inclusivity, and participatory governance under the Bagong Pilipinas agenda and the Philippine Development Plan 2023–2028.

Under the leadership of University President Prof. Diosdado P. Zulueta, MarSU champions its dedication to openness in governance, innovation in service, and inclusivity in decision-making. By engaging students, faculty, staff, and the wider Marinduque community, the University strengthens trust and empowers stakeholders to be active partners in shaping a transparent and participatory future.

Marinduque State University warmly welcomed officials from the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) at the University Lounge on May 16, 2026. The delegation was led by Usec. Harold Cabreros, Administrator of OCD and Executive Director of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), together with Dir. Arnulfo C. Matanguihan, Regional Director of OCD MIMAROPA.

Led by President Prof. Diosdado P. Zulueta, MarSU key officials received the visitors in a spirit of courtesy and collaboration, underscoring the university’s commitment to partnerships that strengthen disaster preparedness, resilience, and community safety. The visit opened opportunities for shared initiatives that will benefit both the institution and the wider Marinduque community.

With this engagement, MarSU reaffirms its commitment to building a safer, more resilient future for Marinduque and beyond.

The Marinduque State College High School Alumni Association, Inc. (MSCHAAI) marked a milestone on May 12, 2026, with the induction of its newly elected officers at the Office of the University President. The ceremony was presided over by Prof. Dr. Diosdado P. Zulueta, reinforcing the strong partnership between the University and its alumni.

Taking the helm of the association is President Jose Mario Victor Mandia, joined by Vice President Anton Llanes; Secretary Rizalie M. Lim; Assistant Secretary Hannah Cinkee Olaño; Treasurer Verna Liza L. Capiña; Assistant Treasurer Maria Cecilia Layag; Auditor Eduardo Magcamit; Project/Business Manager Jorge Mandia; Public Relations Officers Daisy T. Malapad and Ronjie Malinao; and Legal Counsel Atty. Faustino Leal.

More than a ceremonial transition, the event highlighted the evolving and strategic role of alumni as vital partners in institutional growth—particularly in advancing the development and excellence of the Laboratory School.

In his keynote message, Prof. Dr. Diosdado P. Zulueta underscored the power of alumni engagement in shaping student success through mentorship, resource mobilization, and sustained collaboration. He further encouraged the association to champion the proposed “Bahay Alumni” project—envisioned as a dedicated hub for alumni engagement, collaboration, and student support—symbolizing a lasting legacy of unity and shared commitment to the institution’s future.

With renewed purpose, the MSCHAAI leadership aims to deepen alumni relations, expand community initiatives, and contribute to the University’s continuing pursuit of excellence—affirming the enduring bond between the institution and its graduates.

University President Prof. Dr. Diosdado P. Zulueta and Civil Service Commission (CSC) – Field Office Marinduque Director Jacinto C. Mateo III led the oath-taking ceremony for the newly appointed employees of Marinduque State University on May 12, 2026 at MarSU Boac Campus, marking another milestone in strengthening the University’s workforce and commitment to public service.

The ceremony formally welcomed five newly appointed personnel who officially took their oath of office in the presence of University officials and representatives from the Civil Service Commission. The newly appointed employees are:

• Pearl B. De Luna-Rodas – Attorney IV, Legal Unit
• Mark Ramah D. Milambiling – Accountant II, MarSU Gasan Campus
• Alvin P. Regencia – Administrative Officer IV, MarSU Santa Cruz Campus
• John Mark F. Valencia – Instructor I, College of Information and Computing Sciences (CICS)
• John Carlo M. Casal – Administrative Assistant II, MarSU Torrijos Campus

The oath-taking symbolizes the employees’ commitment to integrity, excellence, and dedicated public service as they assume their respective roles in the University.

The University administration also expressed its confidence that the newly appointed personnel will continue to uphold professionalism, passion, and accountability in delivering quality service to the MarSU community and its stakeholders.

The Sangguniang Bayan of Santa Cruz, Marinduque honored Marinduque State University (MarSU) through Resolution No. 700, S. 2026 for the university’s outstanding achievements in global higher education rankings.

During its regular session held on April 24, 2026, the council proudly recognized MarSU for earning a place in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2025 and the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) 2025 — two prestigious international recognitions that highlight excellence in education, innovation, research, and sustainability.

The resolution acknowledged MarSU’s strong commitment to academic excellence and meaningful service to society. It highlighted the university’s inclusion in the Top 1500+ institutions worldwide in the THE Impact Rankings 2025, which measures how universities contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The council also recognized MarSU for securing a spot in the Top 330 of the WURI 2025 rankings, a global assessment that values innovation, real-world impact, and transformative contributions to communities and industries.

Members of the Sangguniang Bayan emphasized that MarSU’s achievements continue to bring honor and pride not only to the university but also to the entire province of Marinduque. The resolution reflected the local government’s support and admiration for the university’s growing impact in the international academic community.

Under the leadership of University President Prof. Diosdado P. Zulueta, MarSU continues to strengthen its commitment to producing globally competitive graduates, advancing innovative research, and creating programs that uplift communities and promote sustainable development.

The resolution was personally given by Hon. Noralyn O. Dulnuan to Prof. Zulueta on May 7, 2026 at the Office of the University President Boac Campus.
