On May 20, 2026, Guimaras State University (GSU) welcomed representatives from Pag-IBIG Fund for the conduct of the PAG-IBIG Housing Loan Program Information Drive at the iLab, Academic Building, Salvador Campus.

The information session was spearheaded by Stanley F. Alayon, Acting Branch Head, who led discussions on the agency’s housing loan programs, membership benefits, financing options, and application procedures.

During the activity, participants were acquainted with the different housing assistance mechanisms offered by the agency, including loan availment processes, membership savings, and accessible financing opportunities intended to help members secure residential properties and home improvement support. The discussion likewise underscored the importance of financial preparedness and responsible loan management among prospective applicants.

University faculty and staff were also given the opportunity to raise inquiries regarding eligibility requirements, contribution records, payment terms, and other housing-related concerns during the open discussion segment.

Guimaras State University (GSU) is set to celebrate University Week 2026 from June 2 to 6, 2026, carrying the theme, “Hiliugyon 2026: One Heart, One Goal, One GSU.”

As anticipation builds across the university’s campuses, the institution has formally laid out the schedule of activities for the weeklong observance, which is expected to draw participation from students, faculty members, personnel, alumni, and the entire community.

This year’s celebration gathers an assortment of academic, cultural, recreational, and community-centered activities intended to cultivate fellowship, school spirit, and shared identity within the university. The term Hiliugyon itself mirrors convergence and collective purpose—values that continue to steer the university community amid its undertakings and aspirations.

𝐏𝐑𝐂 𝐑𝐎 𝐕𝐈 𝐌𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐬

The Professional Regulation Commission Regional Office VI, in celebration of the Manggahan Festival, will conduct a Mobile Service on May 20, 2026, at the Guimaras Provincial Capitol.

The PRC Team will accept renewal of Professional Identification Cards (PIC), duplicate PIC, certifications (board rating, passing, good standing), authentications (board rating, passing, PIC, and Certificate of Registration), and inquiries.

Applicants are advised to secure an appointment schedule online through PRC Online Services (https://online.prc.gov.ph/). Applicants may choose any available slots from Robinsons Iloilo, Festive Walk Mall Iloilo, or PRC Iloilo.

Guimaras State University (GSU) is set to host a Civil Society Information Drive and Public Consultation as part of the nationwide observance of Open Government Week (OGW) 2026, slated on May 20, 2026 at the University Library (Circulation Section).

Guided by Presidential Proclamation No. 916, s. 2025 and DBM Circular Letter 2026-8, and encouraged through the PH-OGP Project Management Office, government agencies, including State Universities and Colleges, are called to mount at least one Open Government or Open House initiative.

For GSU, the activity is anchored on its continuing push for transparency, accountability, citizen engagement, and innovation in governance. It is designed to open the university’s systems and services to stakeholders, students, employees, and members of the surrounding communities, allowing them to better understand how programs are carried out and decisions are made.

Beyond information sharing, the activity also provides a space for consultation and feedback, giving participants the opportunity to raise concerns, offer insights, and take part in strengthening institutional processes.

Through this undertaking, GSU aims to present its programs and services, deepen public participation, surface innovative practices in service delivery, and contribute to the broader national observance of Open Government Week 2026.

Guimaras State University (GSU) stands in full accord with the province in celebrating Manggahan Festival 2026, the island’s much-awaited festivity known far and wide as “the sweetest festival,” paying homage to Guimaras’ prized mango industry, cultural inheritance, and communal spirit.

More than a seasonal merrymaking, Manggahan has long become a living emblem of Guimarasnon identity; where agriculture, artistry, livelihood, and tradition intersect beneath one celebration.

The university likewise joins the Guimaras community in celebrating the warmth, creativity, and resilience that continue to define the island and its people.

May this year’s festivities further deepen solidarity among Guimarasnons and bring renewed vigor to local culture, tourism, and livelihood.

Guimaras State University (GSU) will serve as one of the venues for the mobile filing activities of the Career Service Examination – Pen and Paper Test (CSE-PPT) scheduled nationwide on August 9, 2026.

In coordination with the Civil Service Commission (CSC), mobile filing services will be conducted across selected GSU campuses to accommodate aspiring examinees from Guimaras and nearby communities. The initiative aims to make application processing more accessible and convenient for individuals intending to take the upcoming civil service eligibility examination.

The mobile filing activities will run from 9:00 in the morning until 3:00 in the afternoon on the following schedules:

Guimaras State University, through its College of Science and Technology (CST), is set to conduct UBIQUITY 2026: 2nd CST Student Research Colloquium on May 18–19, 2026 at The Pitstop Hotel.

Anchored on the theme, “Globalizing Innovation: Bridging Computer Disciplines and Sustainable Development Goals for Resilient Communities,” the two-day undertaking is expected to gather academic leaders, international collaborators, researchers, industry practitioners, and students for scholarly exchanges centered on technology, sustainability, and emerging innovations.

The colloquium will feature participation from international representatives from STIKOM Bali, Indonesia, namely Dr. Evi Triandini, Expert Staff on Cooperation and Internationalization, and Dr. Paula Dewanti, Lecturer, who are expected to share insights on global academic collaboration, information technology, and innovation-driven research initiatives.

Also joining the gathering are academic and research leaders from partner institutions, including Prof. Preexcy Tupas, Research, Development, and Innovation Chairperson of Romblon State University, along with Instr. Dave Lota, Head of the SDG Center and International Relations Office. Representing Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology (ISUFST) is Dr. Renante A. Diamante, Dean of the College of Information and Communications Technology.

Industry and government sectors will likewise take part in the colloquium through Mr. Michael S. Cabugatan Jr., Provincial Officer of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Guimaras, and Engr. Frenz Rian G. Gal, Director of the Intellectual Property Management Office (IPMO) of GSU.

Guimaras State University (GSU) is set to receive multiple distinctions during the 5th CHED Regional Quality Awards, recognizing the university’s sustained participation and noteworthy contributions to various initiatives spearheaded by the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office VI (CHEDRO VI).

In accordance with the invitation issued by Commission on Higher Education Regional Office VI, the university has likewise been invited to attend the agency’s 32nd Anniversary and 6th Higher Education Day Celebration scheduled on May 21, 2026 at the West Visayas State University Cultural Center. The regional gathering will also carry the conduct of the 5th CHED Regional Quality Awards.
