Agusan del Sur State University (ADSSU) issues this advisory with sincere regret over the late release of this notice and for any inconvenience it may have caused to our pioneer graduates, their families, and stakeholders. The University acknowledges the preparations already undertaken in anticipation of this significant academic milestone.

The Academic Year 2025–2026 marks a defining moment in the history of higher education in Agusan del Sur, as it produces the first graduates of Agusan del Sur State University following its transition from Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology. This inaugural cohort represents the University’s pioneer graduating class and stands as a milestone in the institutional development of ADSSU.

In line with Commission En Banc Resolution No. 060-2026 dated 23 February 2026, the University is currently completing the full institutional integration requirements attendant to its conversion into a state university. This includes the consolidation of its official academic identity, legal nomenclature, documentation systems, and commencement protocols to fully reflect its status as Agusan del Sur State University.

In this regard, the Commencement Exercises for the Pioneer Graduating Class are hereby rescheduled. The revised schedule is currently being finalized, taking into consideration existing institutional engagements, and shall be issued in a separate advisory at the soonest possible time. This adjustment is made to ensure that the ceremony is conducted with full institutional propriety and with the distinction befitting the University’s first graduating cohort.

This rescheduling does not affect the academic standing and graduation status of the candidates concerned. Students who have fully completed all academic requirements shall be officially recognized as graduates effective 24 June 2026, in accordance with the approved Academic Calendar. The release of diplomas, transcripts, and other academic credentials shall follow standard University procedures and established timelines through the concerned offices.

The University enjoins the understanding, patience, and continued cooperation of all stakeholders as it prepares for this historic commencement with Batch Hiraya, Class of 2026. ADSSU remains committed to holding a dignified graduation ceremony that reflects the honor, achievement, and legacy of its pioneer graduates.

The institution extends its warm congratulations to the Local Government of Bunawan, headed by Mayor Sylvia Elorde, together with Vice Mayor Ednard Gil Elorde and the members of the Sangguniang Bayan, for the successful and meaningful celebration of this year’s founding anniversary.

Agusan del Sur State University (ADSSU) joined the Municipality of Bunawan in the opening celebration of the 67th Araw ng Bunawan and 24th Haw-an Festival 2026 held on today, June 19, 2026 at the Bunawan Municipal Grounds.

The opening program, observed as Farmers’ and Indigenous Peoples’ Day, brought together local government officials, farmers, Indigenous Cultural Communities, and various stakeholders in honoring the people and traditions that continue to shape the municipality's identity and development.

ADSSU President Dr. Joy C. Capistrano, together with the University's Vice Presidents, faculty, and staff, was present in full support of the municipality's celebration.

The program featured messages from Vice Mayor Hon. Ednard Gil B. Elorde and Mayor Hon. Sylvia B. Elorde, alongside the unveiling of completed projects and the recognition of farmers' associations and outstanding people's organizations.

Highlight of the event was the SADSAD TU BUNAWAN, where participating barangays showcased performances that reflected Bunawan’s rich cultural heritage, Indigenous traditions, and enduring community spirit.

As Bunawan marks another year of progress and achievement, ADSSU stands in solidarity with the municipality in celebrating its history, honoring its people, and promoting the preservation of its cultural legacy for future generations.

Agusan del Sur State University (ADSSU) formally recognized Aldrin Gatoc Gardose, LPT, a graduate of the Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Science (Batch 2025), for placing Top 5 in the March 2026 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT) – Secondary Level with a rating of 94.20%.

The recognition ceremony highlighted the University's pride in Mr. Gardose's accomplishment, which serves as a testament to the quality of teacher education and academic excellence fostered by ADSSU.

As part of the University's incentive program for outstanding licensure examination performers, Mr. Gardose received a monetary incentive and a certificate of recognition in acknowledgment of his exceptional achievement.

Present during the activity were Dr. Joy C. Capistrano, University President, Dr. Carmelo S. Llanto, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Quality Assurance, Dr. Ferdinand A. Dumalagan, Vice President for Research, Innovation, Development, and Extension Affairs, and the College of Teacher Education Faculty, who personally conveyed their congratulations and words of encouragement to the awardee.

Reflecting on his achievement, Mr. Gardose encouraged aspiring educators to trust the process and remain patient in pursuing their goals, emphasizing that opportunities come at the right time.

His accomplishment stands as a source of pride and inspiration for the entire ADSSU community.

Agusan del Sur State University (ADSSU), under the leadership of University President Dr. Joy C. Capistrano, is advancing its vision of becoming the first state university in Caraga to champion Agri Education Tourism, positioning education itself as a meaningful and immersive tourism experience.

Anchored on the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) StudyPH Edutourism Initiative, which aligns universities and colleges to transform educational institutions into tourism destinations, ADSSU strengthens its commitment to integrating education, agriculture, and tourism development.

During the visit of the Department of Tourism (DOT) Caraga, represented by Supervising Tourism Operations Officer Ryan Malbas Tapayan and Senior Tourism Operations Officer Artemio Menchavez, in line with the university’s application on Farm Tourism Camp accreditation of Madiyaw Green Escapes: The Agri-Edu Tourism, Dr. Capistrano highlighted the institution’s commitment to transforming its agricultural assets into a premier learning and agri-tourism destination.

She emphasized her vision of positioning ADSSU as a premier Agri Education Tourism destination, underscoring the university’s aspiration to showcase its agricultural niche while fostering innovative, experiential, and sustainable learning environments where education, agriculture, and tourism converge.

Dr. Capistrano further underscored the importance of securing accreditation and widening the reach of Madiyaw Green Escapes: The Agri-Edu Tourism positioning it as a model Agri Education Tourism site that highlights the university’s strengths in agricultural development and experiential learning.

The Department of Tourism (DOT) Caraga under the leadership of Regional Director Ivonnie B. Dumadag, EnP, CESO III expressed its support for the initiative, recognizing its potential to contribute to the region’s growing agri tourism landscape and to elevate Caraga as a hub for experiential and sustainable tourism development.

As ADSSU continues to innovate and harness its agricultural assets, the university moves closer to its aspiration of becoming a pioneering institution where education meets tourism, creating opportunities, inspiring communities, and shaping the future of Agri Education Tourism in Caraga and beyond.

Quality forests begin with quality seeds.

In this feature by DOST PCAARRD - Lakbay GALING, ADSSU College of Agriculture faculty member Dr. Dennis Gilbero underscores the importance of science-based tree farming—where the selection of quality seeds, proper nursery management, and evidence-based plantation practices serve as the foundation for productive and sustainable forestry.

As highlighted in the Mindanao Forest Tree Seed Center and Training Hub, improving the quality of planting materials is not only about growing more trees but also about increasing productivity, strengthening environmental restoration efforts, and creating better opportunities for tree farmers and rural communities.

The feature also reflects the vital role of research, innovation, and capacity-building in advancing sustainable natural resource management—principles that ADSSU continues to champion through instruction, research, extension, and community engagement.
