Mr. Jayson Cañezo Dollete, a faculty member of the Information Systems Department, was recognized as part of the Overall 1st Place – SAS Practitioner/Adviser Category at the 17th Interactive Youth Forum of the Philippine Association of Practitioners of Student Affairs and Services (PAPSAS) 2026.

The three-day forum, held at Venus Parkview Hotel in Baguio City, brought together student affairs practitioners and advisers from institutions nationwide for workshops, strategic discussions, and collaborative engagements. Among participating teams, Team B was named Overall Champion, reflecting effective teamwork, sound decision-making, and strong leadership.

This recognition highlights Mr. Dollete’s commitment to professional growth and collaborative leadership. His participation underscores the importance of continuous learning, shared responsibility, and purposeful leadership.

The meeting was held to ensure that faculty members are aligned with the department’s academic direction and quality standards, and to promote the continuous improvement of teaching and learning processes. Using a 𝑽𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑩𝒐𝒂𝒓𝒅 as a strategic tool, the session helped articulate and visualize the department’s direction, priorities, and strategies, providing a clear framework for decision-making and collaborative planning.

𝑭𝒐𝒄𝒖𝒔𝒆𝒅 𝑮𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒑 𝑫𝒊𝒔𝒄𝒖𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 (𝑭𝑮𝑫𝒔) were conducted on the pilot implementation of the Faculty Advisee – Student Monitoring process to enhance student guidance and support, as well as on the Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) implementation in the department. The meeting also included initial discussions on course coordination roles and a review of existing courses to ensure curriculum continuity and quality assurance.

The outcomes of this meeting and review will serve as a collaborative foundation for continued implementation of OBE in the department, improved student monitoring, and strengthened curriculum delivery in the coming semesters.

BSIS Faculty extends Expertise to other Agency

On 𝗙𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝟮𝟯, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱, the 𝟯-𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗜 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝟰𝟬 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗹 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗣𝗡𝗣 𝗥𝗠𝗙𝗕𝟭𝟯, led by Resource Person 𝗠𝘀. 𝗥𝗲𝗷𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗙𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘇. The first day focused on strengthening participants’ digital competencies through practical and guided sessions. In the morning, Ms. Sanchez introduced the foundational tools and features of Canva, emphasizing clean layouts, template optimization, and effective visual design. The afternoon session shifted to AI Prompt Engineering, where participants learned the essentials of crafting purposeful prompts to support documentation, content generation, and workflow efficiency.

A 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 capped off the day, allowing participants to apply both Canva and AI concepts by designing an output poster, demonstrating the synergy of creativity and technology in enhancing productivity. 𝗕𝗦𝗜𝗧, 𝗕𝗦𝗖𝗦, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗦𝗜𝗦 student interns — 𝗠𝘀. 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗮𝗻 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗱𝗼 𝗣𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗼, 𝗞𝗿𝘆𝘇𝗲𝗹 𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗮 𝗘. 𝗕𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗴𝘀𝗮𝗰, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗟𝘆 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗼— also extended great support in facilitating the training, handling documentation, and providing hands-on technical assistance throughout the workshop.

In parallel, 𝗠𝗿. 𝗝𝗮𝘆𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲, 𝗖𝗖𝗜𝗦 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿, held a coordination meeting with 𝗣𝗟𝗧 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗣. 𝗖𝘂𝘆𝗮𝗻, 𝗔𝗱𝗺𝗶𝗻 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿, and 𝗣𝗖𝗽𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗲 𝗠. 𝗗𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗲𝘇 to explore a broader partnership between CCIS and RMFB13 for future extension initiatives. An initial 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗙𝗚𝗗) on community needs was conducted, laying the groundwork for a collaborative program. The 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗠𝗢𝗔) for this partnership is currently being finalized to formalize the forthcoming extension activities.

A productive and strategic start toward empowering our uniformed personnel through technology-driven capacity building.

On February 19, 2026, Prof. Elbert Moyon, Director of the Center for Human-Computer Interaction, delivered an insightful discussion via Google Meet as part of the series “Exploring Research Opportunities in Information Systems: Insight from the Experts.” The session was designed for BSIS students currently enrolled in the Capstone Proposal and gathered participants who aimed to deepen their understanding of research pathways and capstone development.

Prof. Moyon emphasized the strategic foundations of Information Systems research as he discussed “From Vision to Capstone,” encouraging students to align their project ideas with institutional priorities, particularly the university’s Likha Agenda. He explained that research should not only focus on technological innovation but also address real-world challenges through user-centered design, systems development, and community impact. The discussion highlighted the importance of building real-world systems through software customization and web and mobile development with actual clients.

Key research areas anchored in the CCIS Research Centers were presented to help students identify suitable specialization topics. Thus, a comprehensive outline of possible research topic anchors was shared, together with directive roadmaps to help students conceptualize, design, and implement their capstone projects. Prof. Moyon underscored the critical role of BSIS students in advancing the research development agenda by producing innovative, ethical, and impact-driven systems aligned with institutional and societal goals.

The session served as both inspiration and practical guidance, empowering students to turn their ideas into strategically aligned, research-driven capstone projects.
