𝐓𝐅𝐏𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒| 𝐓𝐚𝐛𝐮𝐜 𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐃𝐎𝐒𝐓-𝐒𝐄𝐈 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩

Mark Johnson T. Tabuc, a third year BS Computer Engineering (BSCpE) student has been named as one of the 2,696 qualifiers in the 2024 Junior Level Science Scholarships (JLSS) of the Department of Science and Technology - Science Technology Institute (DOST-SEI), October 13.

Tabuc took the exam last July 28 at Isabela State University - Cauayan, San Fermin, Cauayan City, Isabela.

In an interview, Tabuc expressed his excitement and gratitude highlighting the vital role that the scholarship will play in his studies.

"I am super happy rin kasi out of 10k na nag-apply, I am one of the qualifiers," he added.

He also mentioned that he didn't expect a lot on the said scholarship due to the errors he made while applying online.

Moreover, Tabuc shared his short preparations before the DOST Scholarship exam.

"Nag preprep din kami for midterms namin, so as in hirap ako magreview non. Habang kasagsagan ng review ng iba, I was memorizing chinese, and submitting requirements, sinisingit ko nalang magbasa basa ng mga topics na pwede lumabas sa exam. Naka-review lang ako nang malala, less than two days before the exam," he stated.

Furthermore, Tabuc gave tips for students who are planning to take the DOST scholarship qualifying exam.

"Just give it your all, do your best sa preparations, sa exam, and even sa pag pasa ng requirements. Show effort befitting your desire to be one of the Iskolars ng bayan. And also trust God with him, anything is possible," he explained.

BSCpE students, faculty notch awards in ICpEP RegCon '23

Computer engineering students and faculty of the College of Computing Studies, Communication, Information and Technology (CCSICT) notched different awards on the recently concluded Regional Convention 2023 (RegCon'23) of the Institute of Computer Engineers of the Philippines Region 2 (ICpEP.se) held at Nueva Vizcaya State University Bambang Campus, November 28-December 1.

Noah Mos Mariano, Jasper Bagunu, Vladimir Taberna, Melodie Carniyan, Clark Deo Zipagan, Brent Daryll Abiqui together with their coach Engr. Ma. Christina V. Magabilin, DEng bagged the 1st Runner up in the Mobile Legends Tournament.

Meanwhile, Julianah Canceran, Tristan Vash Carl Reyes, Dixi Maiden Ochoa with their coach Engr. Jhonloyd Criste clinched the 2nd Runner Up in the Robotics Competition.

On the other hand, 4th Runner Up place in the Quiz Bowl Competition was bagged by students - Gazel Perez, Emerald-Jademay Catagattan, John Mark Ariola, and their coach Engr. Ma. Christina V. Magabilin, DEng.

Moreover, John Mark Ariola was commended as the Most Outstanding Computer Engineering Student, while Engr. Ma. Christina V. Magabilin, DEng was awarded as the Most Outstanding Academician during the ICpEP Awards.

Engr. Ma. Christina V. Magabilin, DEng, mentioned the preparations they made for the convention, as well as the hardships they faced.

"We conducted meetings with the parents of the participants, inasikaso ang required documents para payagan tayong um-attend, and ang hirap kasi isang linggo rin tayong nag-prepare, mailakad lang lahat-lahat. Ngayon masaya ako dahil kahit papaano'y may nakuha tayong awards from the convention kahit 'di natin nasalihan lahat ng events," Vinarao said.

Furthermore, Cagayan State University Carig Campus was hailed as the overall champion for this year's convention.

The University of La Salette Santiago Campus will be the next venue for the ICpEP RegCon '24.

ISU-C Computer Engineering studes bag awards in Reg’l Convention

Isabela State University-Cabagan (ISU-C) Computer Engineering students showcased their excellence by securing awards in the recently concluded 2023 Regional Convention (REGCON) of the Institute of Computer Engineers of the Philippines Student Edition- Region 2 (ICpEP.SE) held at Nueva Vizcaya State University Bambang Campus on November 28-December 1.

John Mark Ariola, a 3rd-year Computer Engineering student, showcased his exceptional intellect, perseverance, and passion, receiving the title of 2023 ICpEP.SE-Region 2 Most Outstanding Student, alongside Engr. Ma. Christina V. Magabilin, DEng., who earned the recognition of Most Outstanding Academician.

“Through this convention, we can see how important it is to be in touch with the technological advancements and digital transformation that are happening in the present, and this is one of the jobs of computer engineer. As a computer engineering student, the different events helped me grow more in terms of skills and knowledge that I may use in giving solution to the global problems in the future,” Ariola said.

Meanwhile, Noah Mariano, Jasper Bagunu, Vladimir Taberna, Melodie Carniyan, Clark Zipagan and Brent Abiqui won 2nd Place in Mobile Legends Competition, mentored by Engr. Ma. Christina V. Magabilin, DEng.

Julianah Canceran, Tristan Reyes, and Dixi Ochoa earned 3rd Place in the Robotics Competition, guided by their coach, Engr. Jhonloyd Criste.

Furthermore, Gazel Perez, Emerald Cataggatan, and John Mark Ariola achieved 5th Place in the Quiz Bowl Competition, led by their coach, Engr. Ma. Christina V. Magabilin, DEng.

REGCON, organized by the ICpEP.SE to embrace diversity and accelerate digital transformation, saw participation from eleven different universities across the region.
