September 26 is Save Sierra Madre Day!

The College of Forestry and Environmental Management (CFEM) joined the nation in celebrating this important occasion through an Information and Education Campaign in partnership with the Mabuwaya Foundation.

Ms. Ma. Elisa N. Gulatera, Information Specialist of Mabuwaya Foundation, delivered an insightful talk on the importance of protecting the Sierra Madre as home to rich biodiversity and a source of critical ecosystem services. Mr. Noverson Gallardo, a 4th-year BS Forestry student, also shared his personal reflections on the significance of conserving Sierra Madre. Other Mabuwaya staff who graced the event included Ms. Hannah P. Bonifacio, Ms. Nanette Pelovello, Ms. Dorina Soler and For. Sammy Cadano.

Declared under Proclamation No. 413, Save Sierra Madre Day reminds us of the vital role this mountain range plays in safeguarding communities, sustaining our water supply, and serving as our natural shield against disasters.

CFEM reaffirms its strong commitment to protect, restore, and care for the country’s longest mountain range!
