𝐌𝐢𝐝𝐰𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔: 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞, 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐢𝐝𝐰𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐲
The Midwifery Department proudly celebrated Midwifery Week 2026 on March 30, 31, and April 1. Two-day event highlighted not only the talents and dedication of student-midwives but also the profound commitment of educators and practitioners who continue to shape the future of maternal and newborn care.
The celebration officially began with warm and uplifting words from the Program Chairperson, 𝑴𝒔. 𝑬𝒅𝒆𝒏 𝑵. 𝑹𝒂𝒈𝒖𝒂𝒍, who welcomed all participants and set the tone of gratitude and excellence for the activities ahead. Following her message, the Campus Administrator 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒇. 𝑩𝒂𝒍𝒕𝒂𝒛𝒂𝒓 𝑮. 𝑫𝒂𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 delivered an inspiring address that emphasized the essential role of midwives in community health and the continuing mission of the department to produce competent, compassionate, and service-oriented graduates.
One of the most significant highlights of the opening program was the heartfelt recognition of 𝑫𝒓. Angeline Bogalin Vaquilar , a long-serving part-time faculty member who has devoted more than 10 years to teaching major subjects in the department. Her unwavering commitment, expertise, and passion for educating future midwives earned her the well-deserved Loyalty Award.
The audience was graced with the presence of the day’s guest speaker, 𝑴𝒓. Joseph Domingo , the owner of Achiever’s Review Center. The program chairperson introduced him with pride, acknowledging his contributions to professional review education. Mr. Domingo delivered an engaging, extensive, and interactive discussion to empower student-midwives with practical insights and motivating them to pursue excellence in their licensure preparation and future careers.
On the second day, another notable figure shared her expertise and encouragement: 𝑴𝒓𝒔. Gertrude Manuel, a former part-time clinical instructor and a respected veteran in maternal and newborn care. Her inspirational message resonated deeply with the students, reminding them of the profound responsibility and unmatched fulfillment found in midwifery practice.
Midwifery week brought excitement and friendly competition as various contested activities unfolded. Student-midwives showcased their cultural talents, creativity, and abilities which demonstrating that midwives are not only skilled healthcare providers but also individuals with diverse gifts and vibrant spirits.
The celebration concluded with the awarding of certificates and prizes to outstanding clusters from the various competitions.
