Barangay Canitoan of Cagayan de Oro is the project site of the COLLABDev project for the local coalition composed of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines, Balay Mindanaw, and the City Housing and Urban Development Department (CHUDD) of the Local Government Unit of Cagayan de Oro City.
A coordination meeting was held Last September 6, 2022, at the Canitoan Barangay Hall Session Room, and it was attended by the local coalition, with USTP represented by Dr. Maria Teresa M. Fajardo (USTP-ECRD Director), Engr. Mark Plaza (Faculty, Geodetic Eng'g Department), Engr. Wilfred Clark J. Sevilla (USTP-ECRD IT and Multimedia), together with Mr. Kent Ryan C. Silao as CHUDD Representative, and Ms. Tat Gualberto, the AER, Program Associate for Mindanao.
The Coordination Meeting was also attended by Hon. Marley Y. Lagumen (Brgy. Kagawad), Hon. Cruz L. Lustre (Brgy. Kagawad), Hon. Nador Jun Asilo Datahan (Brgy. SK Chairperson), Mr. Jestone D. Macahilos (PYAP President), the Zone Leaders, and the Representatives from Barangay Health Worker.
The Coordination meeting aims to introduce the possible projects that the local coalition is planning to implement in Barangay Canitoan. Dr. Maria Teresa Fajardo introduces the Digital Skills Training for OSYs, Skills Mapping for 18 - 60 years old, and the KOBO Skills Training for the 40 Youths where the 15 data enumerators as the skills mapper to be chosen. Engr. Mark Plaza presented their ongoing project "MAPASAKUNA" an Open Street Mapping project. Ms. Tat Gualberto introduced Action for Economic Reform and discusses the COLLABDeV project. Mr. Silao provided CHUDD initiatives updates and answered some homeowner association presidents' concerns.
The agreement reached in this meeting includes the conduct of KOBO training, digital skills training for OSY, and the skills mapping of the community on top of the mapping for resilience project. The coalition hopes to pursue more programs, activities, and projects for the community especially those that address the needs of the urban poor.
