The 2025 Stakeholders Convergence stands as more than an event—it is a collective declaration of hope, trust, and shared dedication to every Kagay-anon child. Through the steadfast support of government agencies, private institutions, and civil society organizations, the foundations of the local education system continue to be strengthened. Behind every partnership is a child whose future becomes brighter, a teacher empowered with new tools, and a community inspired to dream bigger.

Held on November 26, 2025, the Stakeholders’ Convergence 2025, with the theme “Strengthening Partnership for Sustainable Development,” honored and celebrated the invaluable contributions of DepEd partners whose commitment has played a vital role in advancing sustainable and quality education.

During the ceremony, Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan was recognized by the Department of Education Schools Division Office of Cagayan de Oro City for its continued support to education and community development initiatives. Mr. Ismael B. Salarda, Director of the Arrupe Educational Center of the Xavier University-School of Education, received the plaque of recognition on behalf of the University.

Xavier Ateneo Night School Program - Alternative Learning System (NSP–ALS), the flagship program of the Arrupe Educational Center of the Xavier University-School of Education, proudly joined the “Bayanihan sa Baybayon: XU Coastal Clean-Up 2025” held on December 6 as part of the XU Festival Days 2025 (XUFD 2025) celebration themed “Nurturing Legacies, Serving Communities.”

Spearheaded by the XU Social Involvement and Advocacy Program of the Social Development Cluster, the activity took place at the XU Marine Station in Jasaan, Misamis Oriental, where it promoted ecological awareness, community participation, and shared responsibility in protecting our marine ecosystems—affirming Xavier Ateneo’s commitment to sustainability and care for our common home.

For the Night School ALS learners, the clean-up served as a meaningful formation experience that enabled them to engage in community service, deepen their understanding of environmental stewardship, practice responsible citizenship, and live out the Ignatian value of being persons for and with others. Their participation also supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 14: Life Below Water and SDG 13: Climate Action.

"Competition makes us faster. Collaboration makes us better."

A productive and meaningful conversation and monitoring of the Xavier Night School–ALS was held with the City Education Development Office (CEDO), headed by Ms. Ritchel “Petals” Petalcurin-Dahay, last August 14, 2025.

Now operationalizing for almost a decade, the Xavier Night School–ALS continues to journey with its partners in providing second chances in education for out-of-school children, youth, and adults.

One of the highlights of the meeting was the endorsement of the key personnel from CEDO who will be working closely with partner HEIs like Xavier Ateneo. They are: Ms. Roxanne Jul Tandang, Learning Innovation and Technology Division Head; Mr. Vonn Francis Cantila, Learning Innovation and Technology Officer and the new focal person for ALS Night Schools in HEIs; and Mr. Jhon Marie Migallon, Research and Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL).

The meeting also provided updates on milestones, program implementations, and identified areas to strengthen the collaboration through the renewal of the Memorandum of Agreement among the tripartite stakeholders—DepEd-ALS, the Local Government of Cagayan de Oro City , and Xavier University-School of Education and its Social Development office the Arrupe Educational Center.

The Teacher Education Student Leaders Assembly (TESLA) Batch 4 successfully concluded their program implementation with an evaluation and feedback session that highlighted both their accomplishments and learning experiences. This reflective process allowed the student leaders to assess the impact of their initiatives, celebrate milestones, and identify areas for growth in future leadership endeavors.

TESLA 4 is a student-led advocacy and leadership innovation of the Xavier University-School of Education, housed under the Arrupe Educational Center. It serves as a platform for cultivating values-driven teacher leaders who are committed to meaningful engagement within and beyond the academe. Through the program, participants are empowered to design and implement advocacy projects, respond to pressing educational and social concerns, and practice servant-leadership rooted in Ignatian values.

By fostering critical reflection, responsible action, and collaboration and partnership like XU Social Involvement and Advocacy Program and other partner stakeholders, , TESLA continues to be a formative experience that equips future educators not only with leadership skills but also with the compassion and commitment to be catalysts of transformation in their communities.

The Batch 9 XU Night School-ALS Commencement Exercises

We celebrated not just graduates—but stories of grit, grace, and growth.

Behind every smile was a journey—of learners who worked by day and studied by night, who pushed forward despite tired bodies, uncertain futures, and life’s heavy weight. For some, this was a second chance. For others, a first step toward a long-postponed dream. And they made it.

They are our BAHANDI—our treasure. Their resilience is proof that no dream is too small, no dreamer too late, and no struggle too heavy when you walk with others.

To our learners: you are no longer just students—you are now storytellers of hope, proof of possibility.

To our learning facilitators, volunteers, partners, and families—daghang salamat for walking beside them and believing in what they could become.

May you continue to carry the light you found here—and pass it on.
