DSWD prepares for the start of Tara Basa! Sa Barrio in Calaca City
The DSWD Field Office IV-A starts its preparatory activities for the start of the implementation of the Tara Basa! Sa Barrio in Calaca City, Batangas.

Last August 27, 2026, potential youth and parent-beneficiaries, including representatives from barangays Niyugan, Puting-Kahoy, and Bisaya attended the orientation as the Field Office presented the program’s guidelines and objectives.

The Tara Basa! Sa Barrio, an initiative under the DSWD’s Tara Basa! Tutoring Program (TBTP), targets out-of-school youth who are 18 years old and are identified as struggling readers living below the 10 percent poverty threshold.

Through this initiative, the DSWD, in partnership with the Calaca City Global College, will bring literacy interventions closer to the community for both the youth and their parents.

As part of the preparatory activities, the potential youth-beneficiaries also underwent literacy assessment after the orientation.

The tutoring and parenting sessions under the program are expected to start by the third week of September 2026. [with reports from EJJSoriano/JMMangaring]

HINDI LANG PLANO. DIREKSYON.

Pinaplano. Pinaghahandaan. At GINAGAWA.

Iba ang bukas sa Calaca.
