The 2026 Recognition Rites with the Theme: Honoring Values-Driven and Digitally Empowered Lifelong Learners was held at the Sorsogon State University Castilla Campus Grounds, on June 3, 2026.
The program formally opened with a processional of the teaching and non-teaching personnel, followed by an opening prayer, led by Mr. Romeo Gideon F. Gonzalgo, the entrance of colors by the ROTC Castilla Campus Unit, and the singing of the national anthem, conducted by Ms. Charlene N. Lagunilla.
Prof. Andrew F. Detera, the Campus Director, delivered warm welcome remarks giving praise to everyone's dedication which bore fruit to their accomplishments. Also, he stressed the importance of academic achievements as well as the development of attitude and character which are equally important in life.
Afterwards, Ms. Celine N. Talagsad, the Student Development and Services Coordinator, introduced the guest speaker, Ms. Clarisse Bonos-Liwanag, an Agricultural Technologist from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist and an alumnae of Sorsogon State University Castilla Campus. She delivered a down-to-earth, touching, heartwarming, and relatable message about her scholastic journey and how she got where she currently is.
The guest speaker, Ms. Clarisse Bonos-Liwanag, was then awarded with a Plaque of Appreciation to recognize her shared insights to the Recognition Rites.
This was followed by the highlight of the event, the Awarding Ceremony, which was facilitated by the university officials, the College of Agriculture program chairs, and the guest speaker, who presented the certificates and medals to the awardees.
After the Awarding Ceremony, Mr. Richie M. Pineda, the student representative, delivered humble and relatable words of gratitude which further inspired his fellow students to aim higher and never give up on their goals.
Dr. Maria Crisanta E. Mella, the Student Development and Services Director, then addressed the students, parents, guardians, and school personnel and delivered a brief, yet inspiring message further emphasizing the 2026 Recognition Rites theme: Honoring Values-Driven and Digitally Empowered Lifelong Learners.
The event was formally ended by the closing remarks delivered by Dr. Oscar Peter D. Pascual, the BSABE Program Chair and former Dean of the College of Agriculture. In his speech, he praised not only the student-awardees, but also their loved ones who, although sometimes unnoticed, always supported them along the way. He ended his speech on a positive note by stressing the importance on one's own contributions to the society, leaving the students full of hope.
