Held today, June 9, 2026, at the university quadrangle, the event recognizes graduands for their consistent academic excellence throughout their university journey.

The awarding ceremony is graced by Dr. Ronato S. Ballado, Vice President for Academic Affairs , Concurrently the OIC President; Dr. Celeste Chan, Director of Instruction; Dr. Rico D. De Asis, Campus Director; Hon. Luke Jensen R. Detera, Guest of Honor; Dr. Lyra Paz P. Lluz; Assistant Director for Academic Affairs; Prof. Marefel U. โ€ŽIn addition to receiving recognition for outstanding academic performance, selected graduands also receive special awards for excellence in various university activities. Despite the heavy rainfall, the Recognition Rites and Hooding Ceremony of the University of Eastern Philippinesโ€“Pedro Rebadulla Memorial Campus (UEP-PRMC) continues today, June 9, 2026, at the UEP-PRMC Quadrangle.

As rain poured over the campus, graduating students, parents, and faculty members showed resilience by continuing the ceremony despite the difficult conditions. Attendees gathered under covered walkways, hallways, and nearby shelters, determined to witness and celebrate the milestone occasion.

A Bachelor of Secondary Education graduating student expressed sadness over the unexpected weather, saying they had hoped for good conditions after four years of hard work and sacrifice. Still, she reflected that the rain may either be a blessing or a challenge beyond their control.

โ€œBilang graduating student na, ito ang pagkakataong hinihintay ko sa apat na taon ng aking paghihirap sa unibersidad na ito. On my journey as an educator, ang aking nararamdaman ay labis na kalungkutan at pighati dahil iisa lamang naman ang aming hinihilingโ€”ang magkaroon sana ng magandang panahon. Ngunit dahil hindi naman namin hawak ang will ni God, sa tingin ko, ang ulan na ito ay maaaring blessingโ€”sana nga ay blessingโ€”o sumpa,โ€ she remarked.

Meanwhile, one parent also expressed disappointment over the situation, noting that the weather affected the joyful atmosphere of the graduation celebration. However, the parent acknowledged that nothing could be done since the rain was beyond human control.

โ€œKay kada tuig man sugad sini, san una sugad ta sini mauran ta. Syempre makuan sa amon hunahuna nga waray kaupayan an graduationโ€”naglilipay man kunta. Wara man kami mahihimo kay kanan Diyos ini, she shared.

Dr. Rico D. De Asis, Campus Director, appealed for understanding and consideration from everyone regarding the situation.

โ€œNag-aaro ak sin konsiderasyon san sitwasyon, kay waray sine naruruyag. Sayod an ngatanan pag tikang nga ginprepararan namo ini nga recognition and hooding ceremony para sa iyo kag anak. Ini nga uran is beyond our control. Dire ini kanan tawo pagbuot, pagbuot ini san aton Makagarahom. Ginaaghat ko an ngatanan nga mangadyi kita nga tumuko na an uran, kay kanugon sini nga selebrasyon san iyo kabataan. Kay once in a lifetime la ini.โ€

Nonetheless, in true UEPCian spirit, students continued to embrace the occasion with positivity and resilience, turning the rainy celebration into a memorable milestone in their academic journey.
