🌱♻️ The CIT University Mining Engineering Department proudly participated in the launch of Cebu City’s Eco Station and Solid Waste Management Emergency Initiatives in celebration of World Environment Day 2026.

Representing the academe sector, our delegates joined government agencies, environmental organizations, community leaders, and private sector partners in strengthening collaborative efforts toward a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Cebu City.

We are also honored to support upcoming environmental initiatives in the city and partner barangays, particularly Project CIRCULA, a sustainability and livelihood program that transforms waste into opportunities for communities. The project, conceptualized by our Mining Engineering student Earon Philip Villamora, recently earned the Gold Award (Grand Champion) at the 2026 Edison Ong National (EON) Awards. Through the leadership of faculty member Engr. Elcasmer G. Acedo and the active involvement of the Philippine Society of Mining Engineers – Visayas Student Chapter (PSEM-VSC), the department looks forward to contributing to the implementation and expansion of this impactful initiative.

Together, we reaffirm our commitment to environmental stewardship, circular economy principles, and community-centered sustainability.

🏛️⛏️ Today, we celebrated more than the blessing of a building and the inauguration of a laboratory—we celebrated a shared commitment to the future of Mining Engineering.

The successful Blessing of the 𝐍𝐞𝐰𝐥𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 and the inauguration of the 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐨 𝐒. 𝐉𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐢, 𝐏𝐄 – 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 stand as a testament to the power of partnership, generosity, and a common vision of excellence in engineering education.

The CIT University Mining Engineering Department proudly participates in the 13th Annual International Conference on Environmental Science (ACES) held at the University of San Carlos, bringing together researchers, educators, practitioners, and environmental leaders from across the Philippines and around the world.

As future mining professionals, our students and faculty continue to engage in meaningful discussions on environmental stewardship, sustainability, climate resilience, biodiversity conservation, and responsible resource development. This conference serves as an important platform to strengthen our understanding of the vital role that science, engineering, and community collaboration play in addressing today’s environmental challenges.

Through learning from distinguished international and local experts, we reaffirm our commitment to producing mining engineers who are not only technically competent but also environmentally responsible and socially conscious.

It is sad to inform everyone that ENGR RONALD VILLAMORA, one of our active PSEM Visayas - BODs is currently suffering from Acute Myeloid Leukemia, a rapid cancer of the blood, and is still confined in the hospital for almost a month now.

Any financial assistance for the family can be coursed thru the GCASH of her wife, Elisa, at cell no. 09479670186. Any contribution will be very much appreciated to lighten the burden of the family.
