Today, we honor and remember President Sergio Osmeña Sr., the first Visayan President of the Philippines, born on September 9, 1878.

His life and leadership continue to inspire generations of Cebuanos and Filipinos, reminding us of the enduring values of humility, integrity, and dedicated service to the nation.

As we commemorate his legacy, may his example continue to inspire us to lead with purpose, serve with compassion, and uphold the values that strengthen our communities and our country.

Faculty Members Gather for Orientation on Research Concept Development and Measurement

The University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Center for Policy, Research and Development Studies (CPRDS) gathered research teachers, research advisers, and faculty members for an orientation on Research Concept Development and Measurement.

The activity forms part of CPRDS’s research capacity-building activities for Academic Year 2026–2027, aimed at strengthening the research capacity of faculty members and promoting greater consistency in the guidance and evaluation provided to students.

The orientation focused on establishing a common understanding of key concepts and approaches in research concept development and measurement, particularly to guide students in the preparation, presentation, and defense of their research proposals.

Dr. Jessica Avenido, Director of CPRDS, underscored the importance of strengthening faculty research capacity to ensure quality and consistency in research instruction, advising, and evaluation.

Through the activity, CPRDS continues to foster a stronger research culture within the university while equipping faculty members with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively guide students toward quality, relevant, and well-developed research.
