From Awareness to Action: BISU-Clarin Crime Prevention Seminar 2025
Bohol Island State University – Clarin Campus recently held the Crime Prevention Seminar 2025 with the theme “Awareness and Accountability: Strengthening Student Protection Against Drug Abuse and Voyeurism.” The program opened with warm and encouraging remarks from Dr. Maria Jennifer G. Cubillo, Director of Guidance and Counseling Services, followed by a Statement of Purpose from Mr. Marc Caesar V. Dumadag, Director of University Health Services, emphasizing the importance of awareness, preventive education, and student welfare.
During the morning session, PCPL Aldrin P. Palaca of the Bohol Provincial Police Office discussed the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act (R.A. 9165), educating students on the dangers of drug use and the vital role of youth in prevention. This was immediately followed by a discussion on the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act (R.A. 9995), highlighting digital responsibility, privacy, and the legal consequences of online misconduct.
Later, PCPL Jonald C. Avinido, also from the Bohol Provincial Police Office, led a session on Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism and Terrorism (PCVET), providing practical tips on awareness, early detection, and reporting mechanisms.
The seminar concluded with a reflective open forum and closing remarks by Dr. Patricio S. Doroy, Director of Student Development Services, encouraging students to apply their learnings to become responsible and law-abiding members of the community.
BISU-Clarin extends its sincerest thanks to our resource speakers, PCPL Palaca and PCPL Avinido, and expresses gratitude for the support and collaboration of the Philippine National Police, particularly the Bohol Provincial Police Office. Through this seminar, students’ knowledge, awareness, and commitment to safety, discipline, and responsible behavior both online and offline were successfully strengthened.
