Corruption is not only a violation of law but a grave moral evil. It undermines democratic institutions, diverts resources meant for the common good, and inflicts the deepest wounds on the poor and the marginalizedโ€”those whom St. Eugene and the Oblates have always placed at the heart of mission. As Pope Francis reminds us, โ€œcorruption is paid by the poor.โ€ Misuse of public funds, lack of transparency, and unjust practices weaken our nation, deprive our people of quality education, healthcare, and infrastructure, and betray the trust given by the Filipino people to their leaders.

As a Catholic and Oblate institution committed to excellence, truth, and social transformation, NDU calls for renewed integrity in public service and independent, transparent investigations into anomalous projects and budget irregularities across all government agencies. These actions must be free from political interference and carried out with accountability to the people.

However, the fight against corruption does not rest solely with the government. We call upon our faculty members, staff, students, alumni, leaders, and community partners to instill in the young the NDUโ€™s core values of Faith, Integrity, Respect, Excellence, and Service to serve the common good. Corruption is not only a political problem but also a cultural and spiritual sickness that demands conversion and courage.

Notre Dame University remains steadfast in its mission to form men and women who are locally and globally competent, peace-builders, and agents of social transformation. For the sake of our country and our youth, we must have the courage to reject corruption in all its forms and work together to build a society founded on justice, transparency, and peace.
