A month ago, on the 23rd of April, the L-NU Debate Society organized the One-Round Debate Competition for the Political Science Students under the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year levels. This followed the Asian Parliamentary Debate Format, with the motion: This House believes that love is sweeter the second time around.

The council extends its gratitude to the Political Science Student Council, especially to the following debaters:

The council proudly recognizes the Government Side for winning the One-Round Debate Competition, with Mr. John Aaron Lavarias as the Best Debater and Ms. Patricia Hortaleza as the Best Speaker.

As this initiative concluded the Academic Year 2025 – 2026 for L-NU Debate Society, we would like to thank our 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐫, 𝐌𝐬. 𝐉𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐡 𝐂. 𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐚𝐬, and our 𝐂𝐨-𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐫, 𝐌𝐫. 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐬 𝐈. 𝐓𝐞𝐣𝐚𝐝𝐚, for their patience and support throughout this Academic Year.

A.Y. 2025 – 2026 has come to an end, but the lessons, passion, and challenges will always be shared far beyond the podium.

𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐏 𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐈𝐓 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓

The L-NU Debate Society was among the many student organizations that participated in the prestigious 𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗣 𝗦𝗨𝗠𝗠𝗜𝗧 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 with the theme "𝗠𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽: 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲" held at Star Monica Hotel Resorts and Restaurant, Lingayen Pangasinan on Dec. 4, 2025. This incredible event brought together passionate individuals from various colleges to explore the importance of good governance and leadership in shaping a better future.

The summit featured a thought-provoking keynote speech by Hon. Jay Mark Kevin D. Crisostomo, Vice Mayor of Lingayen, who shared his insights on effective leadership and governance. The participants were also impressed by the engaging sessions, particularly Session 1: Good Governance and Student Leadership led by Dr. Carlito Olaer, Vice President of Centro Escolar University Student Affairs and Member of the PAPSAS Board of Directors. Additionally, they appreciated the practical insights shared during Session 2: Community Extension Project by Atty. Maan L. Ferrer-Villegas, Chief Administrative Officer of the Office of the Provincial Governor of Pangasinan.

The Leadership Summit 2025 was a valuable experience for all participants, offering a platform to learn from esteemed leaders and connect with peers who share similar passions and interests. The event emphasized the importance of good governance, student leadership, and community engagement in creating positive change. The L-NU Debate Society also extends its heartfelt gratitude to the L-NU Student Affairs and Alumni Relations Office and the L-NU Supreme Student Government for successfully organizing this remarkable event and for emphasizing the significance of leadership development. Their efforts in putting together such an inspiring and informative event are truly commendable! The L-NU Debate Society is proud to have been a part of this transformative experience and looks forward to applying the lessons learned to make a difference in their community!

𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐑! 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐑! 𝐋-𝐍𝐔 𝐃𝐞𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫!

The L-NU Debate Society participated in the 2025 PDS with the theme, “Pangasinenseng Debatista: A Quest to Unravel,” a seminar organized to strengthen debate knowledge and skills among aspiring debaters.

The event was held at the Pangasinan Masonic Lodge No. 56 last November 22, organized by the PHINMA SPEED-UP Speech and Debate Guild.

The program opened with Welcome Remarks from Sir Marcos M. Perez, Jr., Worshipful Master of Pangasinan Masonic Lodge No. 56, followed by a Seminar Overview by Atty. Michael Camilo G. Datario, PHINMA UPang SPEED-UP External Adviser, and a SPEED-UP Overview by Atty. Danielle D.V. Bunquin, PHINMA UPang SPEED-UP Internal Adviser.

Participants attended two engaging lectures: Basics of Asian Parliamentary Debate by Mr. Marc Avyn S. Santos and Debating and Judging for Beginners by Ms. Inicca Knielle C. Macatlang. The event also featured a special message from Ma’am Carmela M. De Perio of the Center for Student Development and Learning.

The seminar concluded with Closing Remarks from Ms. Antonite N. De Luna, PHINMA UPang SPEED-UP President, leaving the participants inspired and more confident in their debating and judging skills.

Indeed, it was such a great experience and opportunity to learn more about the art of debating!
