[๐—Ÿ๐—ข๐—ข๐—ž] University community urged to build stronger โ€˜second homeโ€™ during flag raising ceremony, LED billboard unveiling
The University community gathered for the Flag Raising Ceremony on May 18, 2026, highlighted by the unveiling and launching of the new LED billboard at Gate 1, a development aimed at strengthening the Universityโ€™s communication and information dissemination initiatives.
In his message, University President Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales Jr. extended congratulations to the passers and topnotchers of the March 2026 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT). He commended the achievements of the College of Education in the Obrero Campus and the College of Teacher Education and Technology of the Tagum-Mabini Campus, Tagum Unit, for their consistent excellence in teacher education.
President Gabales also expressed gratitude to the University community for its continued support of the Universityโ€™s austerity measures, noting the significant reduction in energy consumption across campuses. Moreover, the President likewise invited faculty members, staff, students, and stakeholders to participate in the upcoming EducationUSA University Fair Spring 2026, which the University will host on May 23, 2026.
Further, President Gabales urged everyone to continue supporting one another and to help protect the University as their โ€œsecond home,โ€ encouraging the community to work together in building a stronger and better institution. He also reaffirmed the Universityโ€™s commitment to developing innovative strategies, supporting the needs of students, and inspiring incoming first-year students as they begin their academic journey in the University.
The ceremony concluded with the unveiling and launching of the LED billboard at Obrero Campus Gate 1, which is expected to enhance the visibility of University announcements, achievements, activities, and public information campaigns. The installation forms part of the Universityโ€™s continuing efforts to modernize its communication platforms and strengthen engagement with students, employees, visitors, and stakeholders.

The grounds came alive with roaring cheers and vibrant colors as the University of Southeastern Philippines Malabog Extension Campus (USeP MEC) officially launched PANAGHIUSA 2026: Class of Zodiac. The festivities opened with a grand parade, showcasing the soaring spirit and camaraderie of the dedicated faculty, staff, and the highly anticipated participating teams. The energy was unmatched as the crowd gathered for the official opening remarks delivered by esteemed Campus Coordinator, Assistant Professor Rolen A. Bocog.

To formally ignite the games, the audience witnessed a breathtaking Torch Lighting ceremony, followed by the official declaration of the games and a solemn Pledge of Sportsmanship. This powerful moment reminded every USePian that while we play to win, we remain united in respect and fair play.

The kickoff event proved to be a resounding success, featuring diverse activities that highlighted studentsโ€™ talents, physical strength, and intellectual skill. The day began with high-energy performances, including dynamic cheerdance routines and a thrilling banner race. To honor local culture, students also participated in Laro ng Lahiโ€”traditional games such as Tug of War, Palo Sebo, and the Sack Raceโ€”which tested balance, endurance, and teamwork in a fun and spirited way.

Excitement continued both indoors and outdoors with a wide range of sports. For those who enjoy mental challenges, indoor competitions featured intense rounds of Scrabble and Chess, alongside fast-paced Table Tennis matches. Meanwhile, the outdoor courts buzzed with action as teams battled in Basketball and Volleyball. By offering varied events, the kickoff ensured that every student had the opportunity to participate, collaborate, and showcase their abilities.

PANAGHIUSA 2026 aligns with the Universityโ€™s commitment to advancing global goals for a better world. It supports SDG 3 by encouraging healthy and active lifestyles through sports and exercise. It contributes to SDG 4 by cultivating essential life skills such as leadership and teamwork beyond the classroom. Finally, it promotes SDG 5 and SDG 10 by ensuring that all studentsโ€”regardless of gender or backgroundโ€”have equal opportunities to join, lead, and excel.

The University extends its full support for the conduct of intramural activities across all campuses: Hudyaka 2026 of the Obrero Campus, Indigay 2026 of the Tagum-Mabini Campus, Himagsikan 2026 of the Mintal Campus, and Panaghiusa 2026 of the Malabog Extension Campus.

These celebrations reflect that University life extends beyond academic pursuits. Alongside classroom learning, students are provided meaningful opportunities to engage in activities that develop teamwork, leadership, creativity, and physical well-being. Through sports, creative arts, and other campus-wide events, the University continues to promote holistic student development and a well-rounded educational experience.

As the intramurals unfold, may every student be encouraged to participate, support, and celebrate with one another in the spirit of unity and healthy competition. Above all, may this season become a meaningful space for connection, growth, and shared experiences within the University community.
