𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗 | Statement on the Recent Incident at the New Carmen Landfill

With the recent tragic incident, the University Community Engagement and Advocacy Council (UCEAC) calls for the entire Ateneo community to actively uphold and strengthen our campus-wide waste management initiatives.

The incident further underscores the urgent need to strengthen waste reduction initiatives, enforce proper waste segregation practices, promote sustainable consumption, and cultivate a deeper sense of shared accountability among institutions, communities, and individuals alike.

In observance of Eid'l Adha (Feast of Sacrifice), Malacañang Palace has issued Proclamation No. 1264, declaring Wednesday, 27 May 2026, a regular holiday throughout the country.

In line with this, there will be no classes and all university offices shall be closed on this day.

We extend our warmest greetings to our Muslim brothers and sisters as they observe this sacred occasion.

Following the recent flooding situation affecting parts of the city and nearby communities, we are conducting a Constituency Welfare Check for students, faculty, staff.

We encourage everyone to report their current status so the University can properly monitor conditions, identify urgent concerns, and coordinate appropriate assistance and support.

Reporting Categories:
✅ SAFE – No immediate concern
🟡 NEEDS ASSISTANCE – Requires food, transport, medicine, shelter, etc.
🟠 INJURED – Medical assistance needed
⚫ UNCONTACTED – No communication established
🔴 CRITICAL – Urgent rescue/intervention needed

Congratulations Fr. Tony!

ANNOUNCEMENT | Ateneo de Davao University congratulates Fr. Antonio M. Basilio, SJ, PhD, on his appointment as Vice President for Research, Innovations, and Community Engagement (VP-RICE), effective the 1st of June 2026.

He currently serves as the Vice President for Higher Education, Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry, and as Rector of the Jesuit Community of the University.

Fr. Basilio brings to this role a strong research record in green chemistry, renewable energy, and the valorization of agricultural waste, with ISI-indexed publications, DOST-funded projects, and a registered utility model patent. He completed his doctorate at National Taiwan University under the Taiwan International Graduate Program in Nanoscience and Technology.

We look forward to the work ahead under his leadership as we continue to deepen our commitment to research, innovation, and meaningful engagement with our communities.

ANNOUNCEMENT | Ateneo de Davao University Receives Trademark Registration for Malnutrition Intervention Alternatives (MIA)

Ateneo de Davao University is proud to announce the formal trademark registration of Malnutrition Intervention Alternatives (MIA) with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines, registered on the 27th of February 2026 under Class 5 for vitamin and mineral food supplements, valid for ten years until 2036.

MIA addresses hunger and malnutrition in Mindanao through a nutritious and affordable micronutrient powdered mix sourced from local farmers, supporting feeding programs for underweight children in Davao City.

We congratulate Ms. Nelia T. Villarta and her team, and Mr. Ed Ivan M. Bardoquillo, Officer-in-Charge of the Innovation Technology and Support Office (ITSO), for facilitating this registration.
