Ngayon ang araw ng kalayaan โ€” petsa na hindi makakalimutan, sumasagisag kung kailan nakalaya ang mga Pilipino mula sa mga banyagang mananakop. Araw ng pagbibigay-pugay sa mga bayani na nagbuwis ng kanilang buhay para sa Pilipinas.

Ito ay kasaysayan na parte na ng Pilipinas โ€” ipinagdiriwang tuwing ika-12 araw ng Hunyo, ang araw kung kailan itinaas ni Heneral Emilio Aguinaldo ang watawat ng Pilipinas sa Cavite el Viejo (ngayon ay Kawit, Cavite), na nagbukas ng bagong yugto para sa ating Inang Bayan.

Ang pambansang awit ng Pilipinas na binuo ni Juliรกn Felipe noong 1898 na ngayon ay kilala bilang Lupang Hinirang (nooโ€™y Marcha Nacional Filipina) ay dito rin unang pinatugtogโ€” himig lamang ang naririnig, wala pang liriko nito. Makalipas ang isang taon, ang unang liriko sa wikang Espanyol ay binuo ni Josรฉ Palma.

Bago pa man naging opisyal na ika-12 ng Hunyo na petsa ng araw ng kalayaan, ay ika-4 araw ng Hulyo ang orihinal na petsa nito na ipinagkaloob ng United States of America sa Pilipinas, ngayon ay kinikilala bilang Filipino-American Friendship Day. Nabago ang petsa na ito nang pirmahan ni noo'y Pangulong Diosdado Macapagal ang Batas Republika 4166 noong 1964.

Hindi lamang patungkol sa kalayaan ang araw na ito, ngunit tungkol din sa mga bayani na nagbuwis ng kanilang buhay para sa kalayaan ng Pilipinasโ€” mga bayaning namatay, nagsakripisyo at gumawa ng paraan para makamit ng mga Pilipino ang inaasam na kalayaan mula sa kamay ng mga manlulupig.

Ito ay nagbigay ng bagong kinabukasan โ€” kung saan nagkaroon ng pagkakaisa, pagtutulungan, at bagong kasanayan para sa mga Pilipino matapos lumaya sa kamay ng mga mananakop. Hindi lamang ito simpleng araw ngunit kasaysayan na tumatak na sa kalendaryo ng mga Pilipino.

Through carefully crafted designs and decorative arrangements, the students demonstrated their ability to create visually appealing setups while exploring the principles of styling and presentation in hospitality. The activity also highlighted the importance of teamwork, innovation, and professionalism in producing well-coordinated outputs.

The impressive works of BSHM 2A and 2C reflect their growing skills and dedication as future hospitality professionals, proving that creativity and excellence go hand in hand in the hospitality industry.

The Universityโ€™s Quality Assurance Unit hosted the Closing Program and Exit Conference today, May 29, marking the conclusion of a comprehensive review for two academic programs.

The Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM) and Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (BSABE) underwent a rigorous online accreditation survey visit for five days. This process scrutinized various areas of academic and operational services to assess the programsโ€™ adherence with the Commission on Higher Education's (CHEDโ€™s) policies, standards, and guidelines.

Opening the formal proceedings, Dr. Rosalyn L. Delizo, University Director for Instruction, expressed her gratitude to the working committees, academic leaders, students, stakeholders, and the accreditors. Emphasizing the value of constructive critique, she described the feedback as a strategic roadmap for growth and a vital catalyst for institutional transformation. She shared that the accreditation visit may be ending today but the University continues to strive for quality and excellence in all its endeavors, ensuring that graduates are ready and fully equipped to serve the nation.

Following the preliminaries, Dr. Erly M. Martir, the overall coordinator, presented the survey team's key observations. He highlighted that beyond merely auditing services, the evaluators witnessed a deep-seated dedication to continuous improvement. He remarked that the Universityโ€™s "strong collaboration with stakeholders and drive to achieve quality education make a difference in the lives of students."

In response, Dr. Hermenegildo F. Samoy, Jr., University President, shared the institutionโ€™s commitment to sustain excellence and immediately lay concrete action plans to implement the recommendations. He emphasized a stakeholder-centered approachโ€”placing students, faculty, and the community at the core of the University's mission. Accepting the recommendations with humility, he urged the QSU community to unite in reaching new heights of academic excellence in service to God and humanity.

The event wrapped up with the presentation of certificates to the evaluators from the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), followed by a photo session.

Today, May 26, marks the second day of the Online Accreditation Survey Visit for the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM) program at the Diffun Campus.

The dayโ€™s activities commenced with a virtual campus tour, showcasing the programโ€™s facilities, laboratories, and equipment. This visual presentation provided evaluators with an overview of the learning environment provided to tourism students.

In the afternoon, the focus shifted to qualitative evaluation. Evaluators from the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) conducted a series of interviews with faculty members and external stakeholders. These sessions aimed to assess the programโ€™s compliance with the Commission on Higher Education's (CHED) policies, standards, and guidelines for tourism education.
