We are pleased to announce that Christian Earl Siong and Genderson A. Vergara, both students from the Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT) department, have been accepted into the highly competitive GCI Global Program, conducted by the MatsuoโIwasawa Laboratory at the University of Tokyo.
This achievement is particularly noteworthy given the programโs global selectivity. In 2025, the GCI Global Program received more than 7,700 applications from over 430 universities across 30+ countries, admitting only a small number of outstanding candidates.
The GCI Global Program is a rigorous, intensive, hands-on, three-month online course designed to equip participants with essential competencies for global data science practice. The curriculum integrates theoretical frameworks with practical applications, encompassing key areas such as:
-Fundamental concepts, principles, and objectives of data science
-Python programming and contemporary machine learning techniques
-Data-driven problem-solving approaches and real-world applications in business and industry
We extend our sincere congratulations to these students and wish them continued success in their academic and professional endeavors.
