The second-year BS Biology students of Negros Oriental State University (NORSU), under the Ecology class of Ms. Lyca Mae D. Siplon, conducted an off-campus field activity at Balinsasayao Twin Lakes Natural Park on October 19, 2026, accompanied by the Department Chairperson, Dr. Venus B. Kinamot. The activity focused on observing organismal adaptations in their natural habitats, enabling students to examine characteristics that contribute to the survival of organisms under varying environmental conditions. Through direct observation, students were able to relate ecological concepts to biological phenomena in the field while developing their scientific observation skills. The activity adhered to non-destructive field practices, with no destructive sampling conducted.

The NORSU Biology Department extends its sincere appreciation to the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Sibulan for granting permission to conduct the activity and generously providing free transportation for the participating students. The Department acknowledges this valuable support, which facilitated the field activity and provided students with an opportunity to apply their classroom knowledge in a natural setting.

On October 4, 2026, the second-year Biology students of Negros Oriental State University (NORSU), under the Ecology class of Ms. Lyca Mae D. Siplon, together with the faculty of the NORSU Biology Department, conducted an off-campus field activity at JJ Island, Bindoy, Negros Oriental, focusing on mangrove species assessment. The activity provided students with hands-on experience in identifying and assessing mangrove species in their natural habitat, enhancing their understanding of mangrove diversity. Through this field-based learning experience, students were able to apply ecological concepts in the field while gaining a deeper appreciation of the role of mangroves in biodiversity conservation and coastal protection.

The NORSU Biology Department extends its sincere appreciation to the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Bindoy for granting permission to conduct the activity, Local Government Unit (LGU) of Dauin for providing transportation, and Ms. Marnel Judi Restel Echica for her valuable assistance throughout the undertaking. The Department gratefully acknowledges their support, cooperation, and contributions, which helped facilitate the successful conduct of this educational activity and provided students with a meaningful opportunity for experiential learning.
