Join the oldest and longest-runnning creative writing workshop in Asia!

𝐖𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐮𝐛𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟔𝟒𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩!

The Workshop is offering ten fellowships to promising writers in the Philippines. Successful applicants will stay for two weeks in Dumaguete, recently designated a UNESCO Creative City for Literature.

Whole person education at play! Our Silliman University Language Learning Center Intensive English Program students from Hiroshima College of Foreign Languages spend the holiday Dumaguete style: through a game of pickleball! This is still part of their cultural exposure. 🥒🎾

Yesterday's cultural exposure with our students from Hiroshima College of Foreign Languages who are here for the Silliman University Language Learning Center Intensive English Program. We started with a delicious breakfast at the painitan then a stroll through the public market and a quick stop at the National Museum of the Philippines - Dumaguete before heading to Bacongham Beach Resort for a well-deserved rest.

Thank you, Dr. Frances Hope Yap, for (once again) welcoming us to your beautiful home.

: Three writers from Silliman University are set to be part of the national delegation to the 2025 Frankfurter Buchmesse (FBM), or the Frankfurt Book Fair, scheduled on 15 to 19 October 2025 in Germany. The FBM is the world’s largest and oldest international publishing event.

Dumaguete fictionist Ian Rosales Casocot, Tacloban poet Merlie Alunan, and Tagbilaran poet Marjorie Evasco, all graduates of the creative writing program of Silliman University, will be among 500 delegates from the Philippines, which include creatives, authors, and illustrators, as well as publishing houses and literary organizations. The Philippines is the Guest of Honor of the renowned international book fair this year.
