LOOK I The Palawan State University - Dumaran Campus and University Student Government hosted a National Hazing Prevention Program as one of the crucial platform to address the serious issue of hazing. This initiative contribute the university's commitment to fostering a safe and respectful campus environment, where all students can thrive without fear of physical or psychological harm.
We are honored to have with us our esteemed Resource Speaker from Dumaran MPS PMSg Naomi Montenegro Aurello for discussing the essence of Republic Act 11053, also known as the Anti-Hazing Act of 2018. This law is a comprehensive amendment to the original Anti-Hazing Act of 1995 (Republic Act No. 8049), and it aims to completely ban all forms of hazing. It expands the definition of hazing to include any physical or psychological suffering, harm, or injury inflicted as a prerequisite for admission or continued membership in any organization, whether school-based or community-based. The Act imposes severe penalties, including lengthy imprisonment and substantial fines, for those who plan, participate in, or conceal hazing activities, especially if it results in death, r**e, so**my, or mutilation.
Our Campus Director Ms. Yna Katrina R. Gravamen, OSAS Coordinator Mr. Mark Clyde D. Delos Reyes, USG President Mr. Rogeme A. Arzaga awarded the Certificates of Commendation to PMSg Naomi Montenegro Aurello in recognition to her expertise and dedication in educating the Numero Unong Estudyante ng Palawan State University Dumaran Campus on this matter.
Furthermore, the Certificates of Participation presented to various student organizations such as Young Agriculture Society, Young Entrepreneur Society, Culture and Arts, and Sports Organization including Alpha Kappa Rho, Zeta Phi Omega, and Alpha Rho Sigma for their active engagement and commitment to promoting a hazing-free culture within the university and beyond.
