Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges, Inc. (RMMC), through the collaborative efforts of the College of Teacher Education (CTE) and the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), participated in the Division Special Needs Education (SNED) Fun Day 2026 by conducting a community extension activity at the covered court of Dadiangas South Central Elementary School in General Santos City on October 24.
Guided by the theme, โTogether We Belong: Celebrating Abilities, Building Possibilities,โ the celebration aimed to recognize the diverse gifts and talents of learners with special educational needs by fostering a welcoming and inclusive community that looks beyond limitations and embraces every individual's abilities.
The day kicked off at 7:30 a.m. with the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, followed by an invocation accompanied by the audiovisual committee.
Edna L. Vilches, Principal IV, delivered the welcome remarks, while Maria Rowena R. Cabreros, Principal IV, led the presentation of participants and guests.
This was followed by a statement of purpose delivered by Lilane M. Josol, Ph.D., the Division SNED Focal Person.
Expressing their support for the initiative, several officials and representatives delivered messages of support, including Maria Rita S. Velos, Division Chief and Disability Affairs Officer IV; Dr. Marichu P. Diendo, Dean of the Psychology Department; and Dr. Kristoffer Franz R. Millado, College President of RMMC, who was represented by Dr. Analisa T. Amada, Dean of CTE.
Messages of support were also delivered by Mervie Y. Seblos, CESE, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent; Isagani S. Dela Cruz, CESO V, Schools Division Superintendent; and Hon. Lorelie G. Pacquiao, City Mayor.
The program featured an opening salvo performed by the participants, setting an energetic and celebratory atmosphere.
The modeling and solo singing contests brought warmth and excitement to the center stage as learners with special educational needs from different schools showcased their confidence, creativity, and talents.
The event also featured a talent contest and a wellness break facilitated by the talent committee and the medical and safety committee, respectively.
As the afternoon activities continued, Rhona Marielle H. Abayon, MAEd, LPT, CTE Community Extension Coordinator; Cresa Johanna Marie F. Garcia, RPm, Psychology Program Director; and student volunteers, interns, and representatives from CTE and CAS facilitated engaging activities that brought fun and joy to the participants.
Following the activities, the volunteers assisted in distributing loot bags containing food and drinks to the learners, extending their support and fostering meaningful connections with them. Through their active involvement, the volunteers helped create a lively and welcoming atmosphere, encouraging meaningful interaction and participation throughout the celebration.
More than a celebration of talents and abilities, the Division SNED Fun Day 2026 highlighted the importance of inclusivity, collaboration, and equal opportunities for learners with special educational needs.
Through initiatives such as this, RMMC, CTE, and CAS reaffirmed the value of community engagement in creating an environment where every learner is given the opportunity to participate, express themselves, and thrive.
