During the meeting held on February 15, 2026, via Google Meet, the council discussed the Defense Fee Withdrawal for Fourth Year students, as well as the Department and Defense Fee Refunds for students advised to shift. Hon. Vaflor moved for the adjournment of the meeting, which was seconded by Hon. Baterbonia. With no objections, the motion was approved, and the Second Special Meeting session adjourned at exactly 8:57 p.m.

Mula sa kalansing ng mga kutsara hanggang sa mahinang dagundong ng mga mesa, matagal nang nakaangkla sa isipan ng nakararami ang paniniwalang ang mga kamay ng babae'y hinubog para sa pamilya at kusina. Mga gampaning pilit ibininyag at binabasbas ng lipunan sa bawat kababaihan.
Ngunit sa anumang pagkakataon, hindi rito nagtatapos ang kanilang kakayahan. Ang kamay ng bawat babae ay hindi nasusukat sa ayos ng bawat dikta, sapagkat ang mga kamay na ito'y may kakayahang itaob ang matagal nang nakahain sa mesa. Kaya ngayong ika-walo ng Marso, ating ipagdiriwang ang bawat kababaihan hindi lamang sa kanilang gampaning iniakay o sa sakripisyong inialay, kundi sa kanilang katatagang sinubok ang bawat mitsa.
Sa haba ng kanilang pakikibaka, bulag pa rin ang iba sa kanilang tunay na halaga.

𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗜-𝗛𝗔𝗭𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗔𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗦 𝗖𝗔𝗠𝗣𝗔𝗜𝗚𝗡

In line with Memorandum No. 006-26 OSDS dated February 26, 2026, and pursuant to Republic Act No. 11053 (Anti-Hazing Act of 2018), we stand as one with the University’s Anti-Hazing Awareness Campaign. This initiative reinforces our shared responsibility to uphold a culture of safety, respect, and accountability within student organizations, fraternities, and sororities. Hazing has no place in institutions that value dignity, learning, and genuine brotherhood and sisterhood.

We affirm our commitment to promote violence-free student spaces where leadership is built through integrity, not intimidation. United with the Supreme Student Council, Greek Council, and all recognized organizations, we echo a clear message: no hazing, no exceptions. Together, we choose awareness, solidarity, and collective action in fostering a campus community grounded in respect and care for one another.

𝐋𝐈𝐋𝐈𝐏𝐀𝐒, 𝐍𝐆𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐓 𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐃𝐈 𝐊𝐀𝐈𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐌𝐀𝐍 𝐊𝐔𝐊𝐔𝐏𝐀𝐒!

Tuwing buwan ng Pebrero, ginugunita ang Araw ng mga Puso. Ngunit bakit tuwing sasapit ang buwang ito ay may kirot pa rin sa puso ng mga Pilipino? Ang mga sigaw ng awa, mga kalyeng napuno ng luha, at mga sulok na minsang naging saksi sa tapang ay tila nananatiling buhay sa ating alaala.

Sa muling pag-ikot ng Pebrero, hindi lamang petsa ang ating binubuklat kundi isang yugto ng kasaysayang hinubog ng boses at paninindigan ng bayan. Ngayong araw, ating ginugunita ang ika-40 anibersaryo ng Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) People Power Revolution, ang unang hakbang patungo sa bagong simula at ang pagtatapos ng dalawampu't isang taong diktadura.

And EDSA revolution ay tinaguriang "Mapayapang Rebolusyon," sa kadahilang hindi bala o sandata ang tangan ng bawat mamamayan, kundi ang kanilang dedikasyon at determinasyon na makalaya sa mapang-aping pamamahala ng dating Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Sr.

Nag-ugat ang lahat nang ideklara ni Marcos Sr. ang kaniyang pagkapanalo sa madaliang halalan laban kay Corazon Aquino, ang kinikilalang lider ng oposisyon matapos ang pagpaslang sa kaniyang asawang si Benigno Aquino Jr. noong 1983. Sa gitna ng mga alegasyon ng malawakang pandaraya at matagal nang pang-aabuso sa ilalim ng rehimen, tuluyan nang napuno ang sambayanang Pilipino.

Mula Pebrero 22 hanggang 25, 1986, kabi-kabilang protesta ang sumiklab sa kahabaan ng EDSA. Milyon-milyon ang humakbang, nanalangin, at nakiisa sa malawakang deklarasyon ng pagtututol laban sa diktador. Sa kabila ng nag-aalab na init, nanaig ang uhaw ng bawat isa na makawala sa madilim na yugto ng nakaraan.

Kaya ngayong araw ng pag-alala, ating pagkakatandaan ang sakripisyong inialay ng nakaraang henerasyon, kabilang ang mga gabing walang kasiguruhan, mga biktima ng karahasan, at ang ninakaw na kaban ng bayan.

Iisa lamang tayo ng pinanggalingan, iisa ang ipinaglalaban, at iisang patutunguhan. Panahon na upang piliin natin ang ating bayan, gaya ng kung paano ito ipinaglaban.

Ang politika ay walang kulay o mukha, at ang demokrasya ang tulay patungo sa bagong simula. Bagkus, pahalagahan natin ang ating karapatan, protektahan ang kasarinlan, at mahalin ang lupang sinilangan.

𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗘𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗡𝗢𝗪 | In commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution, Hinabi Gensan, MSU-GSC, and the MSU GSC OVCSAS, in partnership with the Sociology Department and the Sociology Students’ Society, are gathered today, February 25, 2026, at the MSU GSC CETD SGS Auditorium for "Kusog sa Katawhan, Atong Kalampusan: Forum on People Power @40" with the theme "Kabataan: Tingog sa Paglaum, Kusog sa Kausaban” (Youth: Voices of Hope, Strength for Change).

This gathering recognizes the importance of conversation in empowering the people and the youth. Joined by ten educational institutions from across the city, we honor the unwavering call for unity, peace, social justice, remembering the victories of the past, carrying that same spirit forward to navigate in the present and the future.

𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒 | 𝐒𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐮𝐦 𝐨𝐧 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐄𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬

The Institute of Peace and Development in Mindanao (IPDM), in collaboration with the Political Science and Sociology Departments, successfully conducted the student symposium entitled “The Desire for National Rebirth: Hope and Suffering among Filipinos in the New Era” on February 16, 2026, at the university library’s Audio Visual Room (AVR).

The program formally commenced with opening remarks delivered by Prof. Novie Arren P. Barreto, PhD, followed by a message of support from Prof. Mario J. Aguja, PhD, Dean of the College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH), who emphasized the value of meaningful dialogue and the application of sociological imagination in examining taken-for-granted social realities.

Serving as the keynote speaker, Prof. Wataru Kusaka, PhD, of the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies delivered a comprehensive lecture examining the social and political conditions that shape contemporary Filipino national identity. He highlighted how historical struggles, economic inequalities, and political tensions influence the public’s longing for national renewal, while stressing the importance of understanding the lived experiences and moral perspectives of Filipinos in analyzing political behavior and social movements.

Following the discussion, students actively participated by raising questions and sharing insights. In an interview, Cazzophia Raine Pepito, a third-year Sociology student, shared that the symposium offered valuable insights into Filipino experiences, particularly those of the younger generation, through relevant data and examples. She emphasized that events like this enhance students’ understanding of social issues.

The event concluded with closing remarks from Prof. Najifah Macaraya, PhD, who encouraged students to reflect on their responsibility in shaping moral decisions and contributing to a more just and inclusive society.
