𝐂𝐅𝐀𝐃 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐲 𝐠𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐭 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐚𝐧 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

Life is a gamble. In a span of 365 days a year, we may often lose… but sometimes, we can still indulge ourselves with the sweet taste of victory.

This is what College of Fine Arts and Design faculty member Alfred Lawrenz Garcia exactly felt as he experienced being one of the selected Filipino delegates for the “Platform Busan,” an international four-day networking and professional development event for emerging independent filmmakers across Asia. It is part of Asian Contents & Film Market during 31st Busan International Film Festival.

Garcia represented the Lyceum of the Philippines - Cavite and the country as a Platform Busan scholar of Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) under its International Film Studies Assistance Program (IFPSAP).

Prior to this, Garcia had already proven his caliber in the film industry. Some of the feathers added in his cap include placing among the Top 12 in DTI Young Creative Challenge Season 1 -Screenplay Category as well as bagging multiple awards during the Pangasine 2025 Film Festival Awards where he won Best in Production Design, Best in Music, and Audience Choice Award.

Garcia earned his degree in AB Film from De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde. He started his professional career as a Media Production Specialist at Harbest Agribusiness Corporation. He also worked as a creative writer of the well-known noon-time show Eat Bulaga!. Currently, he serves as one of the competent and respected faculty members of CFAD in LPU Cavite.

During the CFAD General Assembly, Garcia said, “…we prepared ourselves too much for the winning moment, only to find out na doon sa 365 days sa isang taon, majority of those days… we lose.”

And yet, here he is... experiencing one of those rare moments in 365 days when he can proudly say, “naipanalo ko `to.”

The College of Fine Arts and Design (CFAD) at Lyceum of the Philippines University Cavite was represented at the forefront of national creative education last October 17, 2026. CFAD faculty member Ms. Pauline B. Oderon, who also serves as the National President of the Multimedia Arts Council of the Philippines, Inc. (MMACP), attended and helped lead the council’s second fundraising workshop, “Beyond the Prompt: Weaving Creative Workflows with AI,” held at the YSpaces Conference Room in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Taguig.

Bridging Academe and the Creative Industry Under the leadership of Ms. Oderon and the MMACP executive board, the event brought together educators, academic chairs, studio heads, and media executives from across the country. The gathering served as a space for schools and industry partners to discuss how artificial intelligence is reshaping creative education and studio production.

Representatives from various universities attended alongside industry leaders from the Animation Council of the Philippines, Inc. (ACPI), SIKAP, Netflix, Arkos Digital, and local creative studios. This collaboration reinforces CFAD’s ongoing goal of connecting classroom learning with real-world industry practices.

Responsible AI in Creative Production Led by keynote speaker Direk Gino Montalvo of Tilt Studios, the workshop focused on the practical differences between generative and assistive AI. Participants looked at how tools like Figma Weave, Higgsfield, and automated workflows are currently used in television commercial production and design.

A core message of the seminar was that AI should support—not replace—human creativity and artistic judgment. Discussions covered the ethical side of AI-assisted work, focusing on transparency, intellectual property, consent, and professional accountability.

Looking Ahead: Amplify 2027 and Accessible Education
During the event, MMACP also introduced Amplify 2027: “Learn Fearlessly,” an upcoming series of learning events focused on motion graphics, visual effects (VFX), 2D and 3D animation, and film.

As a fundraising effort partnered with Design Week Philippines, proceeds from the Beyond the Prompt workshop will fund free Multimedia Arts seminars for MMACP partner schools. The initiative directly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals:

SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure

Through the active involvement of faculty leaders like Ms. Pauline B. Oderon in national organizations, LPU Cavite continues to take part in shaping responsible innovation and future-ready education for Filipino creatives.

In collaboration with the CG Arts Creator Certification–Japan, the Multimedia Arts Council of the Philippines (MMACP) successfully conducted its first CG Arts Creator Student Training at the Lyceum of the Philippines University–Cavite on October 10, 2026.
Led by MMACP Executive Director and CG Arts Certified Trainer Gerard Anthony Navarro, the training was conducted in three separate sessions to accommodate different sections of fourth-year Bachelor of Multimedia Arts (BMMA) students.

The program introduced students to career opportunities and professional practices in the Japanese creative industry, highlighting key fields such as animation, visual effects (VFX), 3D modeling, and photography. Through the sessions, students gained valuable insights into industry expectations, professional competencies, and potential career pathways in the global digital arts and entertainment sectors.

The training also sparked greater interest among students in pursuing the CG Arts Creator Certification, with prospective certification opportunities being planned for Summer 2027 and November 2027. This growing enthusiasm reflects the students’ willingness to strengthen their skills, validate their competencies, and prepare for future opportunities in the international creative industry.

This milestone highlights MMACP’s continued commitment to bridging academic learning with industry practices and international certification opportunities. Through collaborations with educational institutions and global creative organizations, MMACP aims to empower Filipino multimedia artists with the knowledge, skills, and professional credentials needed to thrive in an increasingly competitive creative landscape.

On October 10, 2026, the College of Fine Arts and Design advanced its commitment to global industry integration by hosting the first CG Arts Creator Student Training for fourth-year Bachelor of Multimedia Arts students. Organized in collaboration with the Multimedia Arts Council of the Philippines (MMACP), MMACP CALABARZON, and the CG Arts Creator Certification–Japan, the sessions were led by MMACP Executive Director and Certified Trainer, Mr. Gerard Anthony Navarro. The program provided students with crucial insights into the professional practices and career pathways of the Japanese creative industry, focusing on animation, visual effects, 3D modeling, and photography. 𝐂𝐅𝐀𝐃 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐋𝐀𝐄 𝐟𝐨𝐫 '𝐔𝐍𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐃' 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐫𝐭 𝐄𝐱𝐡𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐭

On October 9, 2026, the College of Fine Arts and Design partnered with the College of Liberal Arts and Education's Psychology Program to observe World Mental Health Day through "UNHEARD: An Art Exhibit of Lived Experiences." Held at the COECSA Lobby, the event was anchored on the university-wide theme “Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change.” Spearheaded by CFAD faculty member Mr. Willie Dordas, the exhibit featured powerful student artworks that expressed personal emotions, struggles, resilience, and hope to encourage open conversations about mental well-being. This meaningful collaboration successfully utilized the visual arts as a platform for advocacy, demonstrating the college's strong dedication to supporting mental health awareness and fostering a compassionate, supportive campus community.

Carinderias, the small eateries that serve affordable home-cooked Filipino meals, have long been part of everyday community life. This research explores how carinderias in General Trias City, Cavite City, and Indang serve not only as places of nourishment but also as spaces where Filipino values, traditions, and social relationships are shaped and sustained.

The study found that carinderias reflect important Filipino values such as hospitality, generosity, respect, bayanihan, resilience, and care for others. It also identified key features that make these spaces welcoming, including cleanliness, a home-like atmosphere, and inclusive dining environments that encourage interaction among people from different backgrounds.

To make the findings accessible to a wider audience, the project produced a documentary film, an art book, and an infographic poster. By documenting the stories and experiences found within carinderias, the project helps preserve Filipino cultural heritage, supports local food enterprises, and promotes a deeper appreciation of Filipino identity and community life.

Our CFAD faculty member, Mr. Alfred Lawrenz Garcia, is heading to South Korea. He is part of the Philippine delegation for the 31st Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) and the Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM). The events will take place from October 10 to 13, 2026.

Mr. Garcia is one of 36 Filipino filmmakers chosen for the ACFM Platform Busan. He is also recognized as an FDCP Scholar.

The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) organized this delegation to share local stories globally. The Philippine team includes 4 official film selections, 1 project showcase, 5 producers, 3 featured projects, and 10 production companies.

We are proud to have an LPU Cavite College of Fine Arts and Design educator representing the country.
