CAFFS Faculty showcased outstanding performance at the 3rd International Young Scientist Forum on Climate Change held in China.

China — The Third International Young Scientist Forum for Climate Change, centered on the theme “Sustainable Development through Bamboo Resources,” successfully gathered emerging researchers and scientists from across the globe for a five-day exchange of knowledge, innovation, and climate-smart solutions.

The prestigious forum was hosted by the Faculty of Forestry at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Zhejiang A&F University (ZAFU), and the International Bamboo and Rattan Organization (INBAR). It was co-organized by several leading institutions, including the International Center for Bamboo and Rattan (ICBR), China-Canada Joint Laboratory for Bamboo & Rattan Science and Technology, Sichuan Agricultural University, Jiangxi Academy of Forestry, Asia Pacific Forestry Education Coordination Mechanism (APFECM), Nanjing Forestry University, Southwest Forestry University, and IUFRO Working Party 5.11.05 – Bamboo and Rattan.

The event explored critical themes such as bamboo livelihood and rural development strategies, climate change mitigation approaches, biodiversity conservation, and emerging bamboo-based technologies and enterprises. The forum aimed to empower young scientists to contribute to global sustainability through collaboration and knowledge exchange.

In this international gathering, CAFFS faculty member Miss Melissa Suganob proudly earned 2nd Place in the Best Presenter Award, gaining recognition for her outstanding research contribution and exemplary presentation skills. Her achievement shows the excellence and growing global presence of CAFFS in the field of climate change and sustainable bamboo development.

Miss Suganob’s accomplishment not only brings honor to her institution but also inspires fellow young scientists to pursue impactful research that contributes to a more sustainable future.
