The College of Nursing-Student Body Organization (CON-SBO) officers were formally proclaimed, followed by the oath-taking of all officers, where the agenda for upcoming activities was also discussed during the student organizationsโ meeting held on Wednesday, September 3, at the CON Old Amphitheater.
The event was led by the newly elected SBO President, Jarmagne Romero, and was attended by block officers from Levels 1โ4, officers from Philippine Nursing Studentsโ Association (PNSA), President Ramon Magsaysay State University (PRMSU) Red Cross Youth (RCY) Council Chapter, the Nightingaleโs Tribune, and the CON Clubs.
The meeting centered on the following agendas: EcoCONscious implementation, the November flag ceremony assignment, the Founding Anniversary celebration, and the university-wide sports tryouts.
Dean Celeste A. Orge, with clinical instructors Mr. Bryan Espiritu and Mr. John Carlo Abaniel, delivered messages to inspire the officers. Dean Orge emphasized the importance of communication and collaboration, reminding student leaders that โwe are the voice of other students.โ
In an interview, Romero shared her thoughts about her new role and her plans for the College of Nursing.
โI was a bit thrilled and overwhelmed, but I had already anticipated the hard tasks and situations since I have been serving the college for almost three years now. I am truly glad and beyond happy to be chosen once again to serve and lead my fellow students, and to offer them my very best,โ she said, when asked how she felt about being entrusted with the position.
On her initiatives and programs, Romero explained, โI am planning to implement programs related to student cleanliness and wellness. Recently, we launched our project โEco-CONsciousโ, which aims to instill in every student the importance of maintaining cleanliness in the rooms they use. We will also revive symposiums and seminars that focus on health and wellness, and finally, we will conduct leadership training for all aspiring leaders of the College of Nursing.โ
Finally, when asked about the legacy she hopes to leave, she expressed: โI want the students of the College of Nursing to remember me as a hardworking and reliable leader, not as a perfect one. I do not aspire to be flawless, but rather to be someone they can always rely on during the most difficult times of their journey here in our beloved college.โ
