Today, May 18, 2026, the Department of Biology of the College of Science and Mathematics (CSM) attended the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Workshop held at the CSM Faculty Lounge, led by Dr. Rabby Q. Lavilles, Director of the Center for Pedagogical Innovations (CPI).

The workshop focused on strengthening academic processes and enhancing instructional practices. In line with its commitment to advancing innovative and flexible learning strategies, the Center for Pedagogical Innovations (CPI) conducted a MICRO Learning Workshop on February 20, 2026 for the second semester. The activity convened faculty members from different colleges to enhance their competencies in developing microcredential-based offerings.

Throughout the workshop, participants were guided in identifying appropriate topics for microcredential conversion, aligning content with specific target learners, and structuring their courses into clear, outcomes-driven outlines. They also prepared introductory scripts and storyboards to ensure their micro courses are engaging and well-organized.

As part of the next phase of the initiative, participants are scheduled to record their course introductions and selected content in the CPI's broadcasting studio.

CPI conducted the STAR (Strengthening Teaching Activities for Result-Oriented Learning) and SCALE (Strengthening Competency in Assessment for Learning and Evaluation) training programs earlier today, February 26, 2026, to enhance faculty skills in teaching and assessment.

During the STAR session, participants explored student-centered, high-impact teaching methodologies, including gamification and project-based learning, facilitated by Dr. Roxan A. Consolacion. In the SCALE session, they applied Outcome-Based Assessment to these methodologies, facilitated by Dr. Shelanee Theresa P. Ruales, ensuring that course activities and learning tasks align with the intended outcomes. Participants also developed assessment tools and rubrics, analyzed results to enhance student learning, and examined the role of AI in assessment, facilitated by Dir. Dante D. Dinawanao.

The hands-on sessions enabled participants to develop outcome-oriented teaching and assessment approaches suitable for face-to-face, online, and self-paced learning environments.

CPI conducted the PATH Pedagogy Training Program from January 28–30, 2026 to equip newly hired faculty with MSU-IIT’s educational philosophy, outcomes-based teaching strategies, and MOLÉ course development.

Participants were guided in articulating course culminating outcome statements that reflect this philosophy, designing assessment tasks and tools aligned with Learning Outcome Levels (LLOs), and creating effective teaching and learning activities. The training also included hands-on MOLÉ course development.
