‎✨🌌 𝐂𝐎𝐒𝐌𝐎𝐒 𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐋𝐄𝐍𝐒: 𝐀𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐀𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐲 ✨

In celebration of Astronomy Day this April 22, 2026, beneath a sky full of stars where silence meets infinity, we became not just observers but storytellers of the universe. As Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Science students of Iloilo Science and Technology University – Miagao Campus, we embarked on a journey that blends science, creativity, and curiosity through the Diskarte Astro-Simulator. This meaningful event is proudly hosted by West Visayas State University – Main Campus, bringing together minds eager to explore the wonders beyond our world.

‎Along the way, we discovered that capturing the cosmos requires us to master the Exposure Triangle (ISO, Shutter Speed, Aperture) to achieve the perfect balance of light, sharpness, and clarity, as well as apply the 500 Rule to prevent star trails caused by Earth’s rotation. We also realized the importance of Manual Focus in darkness, careful ISO adjustment to manage brightness and noise, and the use of star-mapping apps, tripods, and remote shutters for more stable and meaningful captures.

‎As the session came to a close, our perspective shifted, we no longer looked at the night sky the same way. Guided by our speaker, Raymond Borres, a 4th-year Automotive Engineering student at Nagoya University, we were reminded that every captured star holds both a story and a scientific truth. His insights transformed complex techniques into meaningful learning, inspiring us to see astrophotography not just as a skill, but as a bridge between knowledge and wonder.

This April 22, 2026, the Science and Junior Ecologist Movement Club officers and members, together with students from different programs of ISAT U Miagao, came together to celebrate Earth Day through fun and meaningful activities. From answering trivia questions about our planet, playing Earth Day Scattergories, expressing creativity through thumb painting in “Paint the Globe,” to sharing promises on the Earth Day Commitment Wall—each moment reminded us of our role in protecting our shared home.

More than just a celebration, it was a day of learning, creativity, and collective action—proving that when we come together, small efforts can create a big impact. 🌱

Today we celebrate our shared home with this year’s theme, 𝑶𝒖𝒓 𝑷𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒓, 𝑶𝒖𝒓 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒆𝒕—a reminder that even the smallest actions can create meaningful change. From making sustainable choices to speaking up for the environment, we all have the power to protect the only planet we call home.
