The Broadcast Guild continued its ๐—”๐—ถ๐—ฟ๐˜„๐—ฎ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐˜€ ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐—”๐˜€๐—ฝ๐—ถ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜€ ๐—™๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐˜‚๐—บ yesterday, September 9, with a guided tour that brought our freshies closer to the spaces where broadcasting happens. From the Radio Laboratory and TV Laboratory to the DYWV stations, the students got a firsthand glimpse of the facilities, tools, and environments that turn ideas into stories heard and seen by an audience.

But the learning did not stop at the tour. The freshies also got to put their creativity and broadcasting instincts to the test through an on-the-spot radio drama session, challenging them to think quickly, work together, and bring a story to life using nothing but their voices and imagination.

From stepping inside the labs to stepping behind the mic, the experience gave our aspiring broadcasters a taste of what awaits them beyond the classroom.

Sharing lessons from her own experiences, Ms. Elambayo encouraged students to stay true to their purpose and keep their values grounded as they pursue a career in broadcasting.

One of her key reminders was to โ€œalways choose the hard right over the easy wrong,โ€ emphasizing that doing what is right may not always be the easiest choice, but it is always worth it.

She also reminded aspiring broadcasters not to let negative comments get to them, as constantly minding the noise can only drain their energy and distract them from what truly matters.

Above all, she highlighted the core responsibility of every broadcaster: to deliver verified, factual, and responsible news. Because broadcasting is more than just having a voiceโ€”itโ€™s about using that voice with purpose, integrity, and responsibility.

The forum also opened the floor for an open forum, where COCโ€™s freshie broadcasters had the opportunity to ask Ms. Elambayo questions about broadcasting, the realities of the industry, and her experiences as a young professional in the field. Through her candid answers and personal insights, she gave the aspiring broadcasters a closer look at what awaits them beyond the classroom.

A story born from a passion for film and storytelling continues to make waves in Philippine cinema.

Our very own BA Broadcasting alumnus and former Broadcast Guild Vice Chairperson, Dir. Daniel de la Cruz, continues to conquer Philippine cinema. His short film, Hasang, has officially been nominated for Best Short Film at the prestigious 49th Gawad Urian Awards, announced by the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino (MPP) on September 1.

Produced by Bdabda Studios, Camagong Productions, and Guimbal iFilm Society, Hasang explores powerful themes of grief, family, cultural beliefs, and nature. Before capturing its historic Gawad Urian nomination, the short film made significant waves both locally and globally, as it previously took home Best Film at the 2025 Bantayan Film Festival, captured the NETPAC Award for Short Film at Cinemalaya 2025, and proudly stood as the lone Filipino representative at the 40th Fribourg International Film Festival in Switzerland.

This milestone and achievement serves as an inspiration to aspiring communicators and storytellers who continue to amplify Filipino voices through film.
