This week, as we celebrate the Recognition, Commencement, and Completion Exercises, we acknowledge the loyalty each Lacsonian has shown to their goals. Whether it was staying committed to their studies, overcoming challenges, or pushing through difficult times, this loyalty has been the driving force behind their success.

The time has come! We are thrilled to announce the 2026 Core Values Awardees, students who have consistently embodied the values that define what it means to be a Lacsonian. 𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫’𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲!

Today, we celebrate the incredible women who show us what love, care, and sharing truly mean. You are the ones who can find missing socks, cure sadness with one hug, prepare everything before anyone even asks, and still remind us to bring an umbrella because somehow, you always know.

To our mothers, grandmothers, guardians, teachers, and all women who have embraced the heart of motherhood, as well as the fathers who have lovingly taken on the role of both mother and father, thank you for nurturing lives, inspiring dreams, and giving strength to those around you.

Your love is steady, your care is endless, and your patience deserves its own certificate of recognition.

The Lacsonian Community is deeply grateful for all the love you give, the care you share, and the light you bring into the world.

A Solemn Tribute to Capt. Juan Bautista “John B.” Lacson

Today, we pause in quiet reflection to honor the memory of our beloved founder, Capt. Juan Bautista “John B.” Lacson, on his 128th birthday. The wreath-laying ceremony, held at his statue on campus and at the American Cemetery, served as a heartfelt tribute to the visionary whose dream continues to shape the future of maritime education in the Philippines.

The significance of the moment was felt deeply by all. Capt. Lacson’s enduring legacy of excellence, discipline, and service to our nation remains a guiding light for every Lacsonian. His dream built the foundation of our beloved institution, which continues to produce sailors and leaders who uphold the values he instilled.

As we commemorate his life and contributions, we remain united in gratitude and pride, carrying forward the torch he lit. Happy 128th Birthday, Capt. Juan Bautista “John B.” Lacson. May your vision continue to inspire generations to come.

𝐓𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐰𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐭. 𝐉𝐮𝐚𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚 “𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐁.” 𝐋𝐚𝐜𝐬𝐨𝐧, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦.

On the 128th anniversary of his birth, we honor a visionary whose dedication to education and service continues to shape the future of maritime professionals. Through his unwavering commitment, John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University was born as the country’s first private maritime education and training institution, empowering generations to serve God, country, and the maritime industry with discipline, integrity, and excellence.

As we reflect on his vision, we also echo the values that have been passed down to every Lacsonian: discipline, progress, and leadership. These values, ingrained in us, are what made us the best of men, as the JBLFMU March says:

We sincerely thank Medbulk Maritime Management Corporation for their continued trust and partnership with JBLFMU. Their dedication to crew welfare, safety, and sustainable operations reflects the values we hold dear at JBLFMU, including Integrity, Excellence, and Discipline. We deeply appreciate their professionalism, teamwork, and the high standards they maintain in tanker and bulk vessel operations.

The screening process was led by Capt. Theodoros Sikotakis (Ship Owner's Representative / Crew Manager) with Capt. Eugene C. Marcos (General Manager), Mis Rocelyn G. Intrepido (Crewing Manager), and Capt. Ryan Carasco (Company Seafarers Officers Representative). Our cadets completed written exams, online assessments, and interviews under their guidance, gaining valuable industry experience.

We are especially grateful to Medbulk Maritime for welcoming six of our graduating Marine Engineering cadets into their ranks.

Engineering Week 2026 | Awards and Recognition

Engineering Week 2026 concluded with an awarding ceremony honoring the talent, dedication, and hard work of all participants. Throughout the week, students demonstrated teamwork, determination, and the spirit of excellence in every competition, performance, and activity at JBLFMU-Molo.

Congratulations to all the winners who received trophies and certificates, and a head held high to everyone who participated and gave their best. Beyond the awards, participants take with them valuable memories and lessons from the week.

We also commend the MED-SEC Officers and their advisers for organizing a week filled with energy, collaboration, and pride.

𝐂𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐄𝐎

JBLFMU-Molo, Inc. held its recently concluded Coffeebreak with the CEO last May 6 at the Audio Visual Room, with faculty members and staff from the different departments in attendance.

The activity provided a space for employees to share insights on unit thrusts, improvement plans, policy matters, welfare concerns, and recommendations that support the University’s continued commitment to quality education and training.

The gathering also gave recognition to Ms. Florence Taburda-Redosendo and Engr. Roberto Neal S. Sobrejuanite for their valuable roles in the development and deployment of the 3DM Platform, a system that strengthens real-time information access, data monitoring, and data-driven decision-making in the institution.
