In the aftermath of the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Southern Mindanao on June 8, 2026, the WVSU University Student Council stands in solidarity with the affected communities in Sarangani Province, General Santos City, and surrounding areas.

As of June 11, 2026, the disaster has affected more than 75,000 families. Thousands of homes and critical infrastructure have been damaged or destroyed, leaving many communities in urgent need of assistance. Beyond the figures are families in need of food, shelter, and immediate relief as they begin the process of recovery.

The initiative successfully raised awareness about schizophrenia, challenged societal misconceptions, and fostered a compassionate community response.

In line with this mission, the College of Communication Student Council participated in the event, standing in solidarity with efforts to champion mental health awareness and break the stigma surrounding schizophrenia.

We extend our gratitude to the Mindshift Initiative for inspiring student leaders to advocate for a more compassionate community.

The WVSU College of Communication Student Council pays tribute, honor, and respect to the Philippine flag and the freedom it symbolizes.
