The BSBA Program successfully conducted its Colloquium and Final Defense for students’ Research and Feasibility Studies last May 2, 2026 marking the culmination of their academic and professional preparation.

This marks another significant milestone for the University as it continues to strengthen its positive impact in the world.

Being ranked 162nd highlights how UZ is among the top universities in the world that deliver societal change, global impact, and innovative practices, actively shaping students to become real-world changemakers.

From its previous ranking of 183rd last year, this recognition demonstrates UZ’s commitment to upscaling its processes and relentless pursuit of excellence.

THE TOP 3 📍ADZU, UZ, and WMSU enters the Top 100 Best Universities in the Philippines for 2026

Three universities from Zamboanga City have made it to the prestigious list of the Top 100 Best Universities in the Philippines for 2026, as ranked by EduRank. Ateneo de Zamboanga University (ADZU) leads the group at #51, followed by Universidad de Zamboanga (UZ) at #73 and Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) at #95. This recognition reflects the growing academic prominence of these institutions and their significant contributions to higher education in the region.

The rankings, published on March 16, 2026, are based on a rigorous methodology that considers research output, non-academic prominence, and alumni influence. EduRank evaluated 229 universities in the Philippines, using data from sources like the OpenAlex database and Wikipedia to determine each institution's standing. Research output contributed 45% to the ranking, highlighting the importance of academic publishing and citations in establishing the credibility and global reach of these universities.

Zamboanga City’s universities are increasingly recognized for their academic excellence and research impact. The rankings affirm the city’s role as an emerging educational hub in Mindanao, offering high-quality programs that attract both local and international students. 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐳 𝐁𝐨𝐰𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 – 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔With the theme“𝐖𝐄 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲: 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐋𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐲𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐬, 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐬,” the UZ Ipil team proudly secured 2nd Place during the Quiz Bowl Competition held on March 6, 2026, at the Provincial Capitol Atrium, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

During the 25th Araw ng Sibugay celebration, UZ Ipil students also showcased their talent in the Inter-School Literary Competition held on February 19, 2026, at the Capitol Grounds, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

The Universidad de Zamboanga – School of Allied Medicine (SAM), Pagadian Campus, has once again demonstrated its academic prowess in the February 2026 Philippine Nursing Licensure Examination (PNLE), securing an impressive 93.02% passing rate for first-time takers.

This achievement reaffirms UZ’s position as a top-tier medical school, proving that our graduates are consistently prepared to compete with the best in the country.

Nursing graduates from the Universidad de Zamboanga - School of Allied Medicine (UZ-SAM), Zamboanga City, have once again achieved a remarkable feat by ranking 3rd among the Top Performing Schools in the February 2026 Philippine Nursing Licensure Exam (PNLE), with an outstanding 98.88% passing rate for first-time takers and 98.07% overall passing rate.

These recognitions demonstrate UZ’s educational excellence and top-notch performance in producing exceptional graduates in the medical field, consistently placing UZ at par with other universities in the country.

The success also signifies the graduates’ hard work and perseverance, resulting in a high passing rate.
