The Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI) continues to advance its mandate of expanding the rubber industry through a strategic engagement in Negros Island Region.

As part of the activity, PRRI conducts a meeting with key stakeholders including Regional Executive Director Engr. Jose Albert A. Barrogo, Central Philippines State University President, and Bayawan City Mayor Hon. John T. Raymund Jr., discussions centered on strengthening institutional collaborations, aligning development priorities, and exploring suitable areas for rubber development in the region. Rubber is a location-specific crop, requiring suitable agroclimatic conditions to thriveโ€”particularly areas that are not heavily affected by strong typhoons.

This initiative underscores PRRIโ€™s commitment to building strong partnerships across government agencies, local government units, and academic institutions. By working collaboratively, PRRI envisions a more inclusive and sustainable rubber industry that contributes to economic growth and rural development in the Negros Island Region.

Through sustained coordination and shared vision, PRRI remains steadfast in its goal of expanding rubber production areas and empowering farming communitiesโ€”one region at a time.
