Congrats Dipolog!
Dipolog City Government
BAWAL NA ANG SINGLE-USE PLASTICS/STYROFOAM SA CITY HALL!
Yesterday, I issued an order regulating the use of single-use plastics and styrofoam in all Dipolog City Government Offices.
Effective September 1, 2018, the following are to be strictly implemented and observed:
1. Non-compostable plastic bags, such as but not limited to thin-film, single-use carryout plastic bags, sando bags and the like, straws, cups, plates, spoons and forks are hereby banned in all Dipolog City Government offices;
2. Non-compostable Polysterene foam products (Styrofoam/styropor) and the like are hereby banned in all Dipolog City Government offices;
3. All food vendors are no longer allowed to use non-compostable plastic bags and non-compostable Polysterene foam products as food packaging or material for dine-in or take-out foods. Take-out foods may be placed in containers which could either be paper, plant-based wrappers, or reusable plastic containers to be provided by the buyers themselves.
Aside from the plastic ban, I have likewise ordered the strict implementation of proper segregation of garbage as stipulated in City Ordinance 123 and Republic Act 9003.
These are to be observed at Dipolog City Hall and all other Dipolog City Government offices.
We are doing these to raise awareness on the importance of minimizing waste that could end up in drainage canals, waterways, creeks, streams and eventually to the bay.
City Hall will set an example as we prepare for the full and strict observance of City Ordinance No. 13-245, otherwise known as "An Ordinance Regulating the Sale, Distribution or Use of Non-Compostable Plastic Bag such as Thin Film, Single-Use Carryout Plastic Bags and Polysterene Foam Products (Styrofoam/Styropor) Within the Territorial Jurisdiction of Dipolog City" starting January 2019.
Let us think and live sustainable for a better Dipolog!
