Representing the Civil Engineering Department with honor, Engr. Alberto S. Pasana and Engr. Llonel A. Barrientos attended the 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟱𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 (𝗣𝗜𝗖𝗘) 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲. Standing alongside professionals and innovators from across the nation, they carried with them the dedication, curiosity, and pursuit of excellence that define every Civilyan.

Their participation in this year’s theme “𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽, 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗜𝗖𝗘 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲” reflects their commitment to continuous learning and to bringing new insights, perspectives, and expertise back to the CE Department.

𝗔 𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 — 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱!

After several postponements and much anticipation, the long-awaited Socials Night 2025 finally lit up the evening of October 29 with the warm and whimsical theme 𝑪𝒐𝒕𝒕𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒓𝒆. The event gathered students from across all departments, celebrating unity, creativity, and the joy of finally coming together.

For the Civil Engineering Department, the night stood as more than just a celebration, it was a well-deserved moment of release after months of hard work and dedication. CE students brought not only their best outfits but also their brightest smiles and unshakable spirit, filling the night with laughter, grace, and pride.

In every shared moment and every dance, the CE community reminded everyone that beyond the equations and structures, they also know how to build memories that last.

Every step of path, we are watched by those who taught us in 2nd, yes the first we learn is in our household, the second one is in school.

The teachers who walked beside their students, sharing wisdom once sought, planting seeds they may never harvest, and hoping each new generation carries forward the will to succeed.

There's a saying history is written by those who won, yet in times like this, who won without a guide? Yes, we are lost but we can always be found.

As future Civil Engineers, we know the weight of guidance, for no structure stands without a foundation, and no engineer is built without a teacher. It is through their compassion, kindness, and integrity that lessons become more than knowledge, and mentoring becomes the blueprint of who we are meant to be.

Happy Teacher's Day to all those mentors that archive far more victories than history has ever written.

𝐀𝐃𝐕𝐈𝐒𝐎𝐑𝐘 | 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟔, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 (𝐓𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲)

Dearest Viscans, due to the continuing heavy rainfall and prevailing weather conditions, all work and classes across the VSU system are suspended tomorrow, August 26, 2025, in line with the advisory from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Essential personnel such as those in medical response, emergency services, security, animal care, and electrical maintenance shall remain on duty to sustain vital operations.

Dormitory residents are advised to remain vigilant and on high alert. No evacuation is required at this time, but should the need arise, residents of Molave, Mabolo, Mariposa, Mulberry, Kanlaon, Sampaguita, Mahogany, and Ilang-Ilang Dormitories will be guided by the Evacuation Committee to designated safe areas.

Students staying in boarding houses are reminded to take necessary precautions, avoid flood-prone and landslide-prone areas, and postpone outdoor activities.

𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲𝘀 – 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟰 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗻𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻)

In the afternoon, the spotlight turned to the organization student onboarding, with all CE department coming together. The program kicked off with a lively game of BINGO designed to 𝑮𝒆𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝑲𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒀𝒐𝒖 (GTKY), sparking interaction and friendly competition. Winners were later interviewed, sharing their fun experiences from the game.

The session continued with Engr. Llonel A. Barrientos delivering heartfelt encouragement. He also shared life lessons and left a timeless reminder: “𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐦𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐲, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐟 𝐢𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐠𝐨𝐚𝐥.” This was followed by a soothing musical performance from Ar. Anthony John Oliveros, easing the atmosphere and drawing smiles from the crowd. Students then took the stage for their own intermission performances, showcasing talent and camaraderie.

The afternoon concluded with closing remarks from Realyn Duran, President, who expressed pride in the unity and enthusiasm shown by the students. Everyone then gathered together for group photos, capturing not just faces, but memories of a day filled with learning, connection, and inspiration.

𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲𝘀 – 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟰 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗻𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗙𝗘𝗧)

The morning of Day 4 was dedicated to the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) Student Onboarding. Engr. Darry Mhei Morales welcomed the participants with an address that set a warm and engaging atmosphere for the day. Engr. Richard Aballe then provided an orientation on admission, retention, and residency rules for the undergraduate programs under the Faculty of Engineering. Students then took part in electing the next Vice President of the FET-SSC, making their voices heard in shaping the future of student leadership. The session concluded with an inspiring message from Engr. Gil Martin Guape, encouraging students to embrace the challenges and opportunities ahead. Closing remarks were delivered by Engr. Mitchelle Ian Doria, wrapping up the morning with gratitude and encouragement.

𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 – 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟯 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗻𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴

The morning began with a mass for Catholic students and a fellowship for non-Catholic students, setting a reflective tone for the day. In the afternoon, the Philippine Red Cross Isabel Chapter shared vital knowledge on CPR, guiding students through the steps that could one day save a life.

To make the lesson truly come alive, students from each course stepped forward to perform CPR alongside the Red Cross Youth. In those moments, hands pressed to the rhythm of hope, they learned that the heart of helping is more than a skill, it’s a responsibility we all share. After the day’s activities, the USSC marked the end of their term ahead of a special election with a sweet gesture, free ice cream for everyone.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐞𝐬— 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐎𝐧𝐛𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠.

Day 2 of the academic year 2025–2026 student onboarding at VSU-IC brought another wave of experiences for our new students. The morning began with a campus tour, giving everyone the chance to see the places that will soon feel like home. The afternoon unfolded with a cybersecurity session, followed by a lively student-led intermission, and concluded with an eye-opening talk on HIV awareness.

From exploring the corners of the campus to gaining insights that reach beyond the classroom, today was a mosaic of experiences that wove together knowledge, awareness, and connection. Each moment served as a reminder that college life is built on curiosity, community, and the courage to embrace every lesson along the way.

Today, August 11, 2025, marked the start of the academic year 2025–2026 Student Onboarding at Visayas State University Isabel-Campus, as the campus came alive with the arrival of new faces and fresh stories waiting to unfold. The onboarding day was more than just introductions and orientations, it was about meeting mentors, learning the ropes, and feeling the warmth of a community ready to guide every step of the way.

In the days ahead, the excitement will continue to grow as students settle into the rhythm of campus life and discover the paths they will take. This is not just an entry into a new academic year, but the first steps toward shaping both futures and the foundations of tomorrow.
