Organized by the ISU Quality Assurance Office, the said review assesses the effectiveness of the campus’ operations, its academic programs, and compliance with international Quality Management Systems (QMS).

Moreover, it ensures that the campus meets standards and continuously improves its services for its stakeholders for it to remain legally compliant, financially responsible, and capable of providing quality services for the people.

𝐈𝐒𝐔 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐀𝐀𝐂𝐂𝐔𝐏 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐲 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝟏𝟔 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐬

Today, July 27, 2026, Isabela State University (ISU) officially opened the online Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines, Inc. (AACCUP) Accreditation Survey Visit for sixteen (16) academic programs across its six (6) participating campuses: Echague, Cabagan, Ilagan, Roxas, San Mateo, and Jones.

The survey visit aims to evaluate the quality and compliance of ISU's undergraduate and graduate academic programs with AACCUP accreditation standards. The programs undergoing accreditation are as follows:

• ISU Echague – Bachelor of Arts in English Language Studies; Bachelor of Science in Criminology; Master of Arts in Psychology; Master of Public Administration; Master of Business Administration; Master of Science in Mathematics Education; Master of Science in Biology Education; and Doctor of Philosophy in Crop Science;
• ISU Cabagan – Doctor of Philosophy in Science Education; Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics; and Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership and Management;
• ISU Ilagan – Bachelor of Secondary Education (Major in English);
• ISU Roxas – Master of Science in Fisheries and Bachelor of Science in Law Enforcement Administration;
• ISU San Mateo – Bachelor of Secondary Education (Major in Social Studies); and
• ISU Jones – Bachelor of Elementary Education.

The opening meeting formally marked the beginning of the week-long online accreditation survey visit. Prof. Precila C. Delima, Ph.D., Vice President for Academic Affairs, delivered the Opening Remarks, warmly welcoming the distinguished guests and AACCUP accreditors. Representing University President Prof. Boyet L. Batang, Ph.D., Dr. Delima also conveyed the University's message of support and inspiration, highlighting the vital role of quality assurance and accreditation in advancing academic excellence and ensuring the delivery of quality higher education.

During the program, Prof. Nerissa P. Batoon, Ph.D., University Director for Quality Assurance, introduced the distinguished AACCUP Overall Coordinators. These include Dr. Jaime M. Forbes and Dr. Sisenando C. Masangcap, Jr. of Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU), who serve as Overall Coordinators for ISU Echague; Dr. Job D. Paguio of BPSU, Overall Coordinator for ISU Cabagan; and Dr. Annalene Grace E. Co of Quirino State University (QSU), Overall Coordinator for the ISU Ilagan, Roxas, San Mateo, and Jones campuses.

The University's thirty-one (31) AACCUP accreditors, who will evaluate the sixteen academic programs across the six campuses, were formally introduced by the respective Campus Directors for Quality Assurance: Ms. Maricel-Joy P. Abella (ISU Echague); Dr. Allen M. Paz (ISU Cabagan); Engr. Arnold L. Alburo (ISU Ilagan); Dr. Charibel R. Sarte (ISU Roxas); Ms. Orpha S. Saguibo (ISU San Mateo); and Dr. Yzzel T. Agorilla-Sario (ISU Jones).

Following the opening program, the University commenced the document evaluation and virtual meetings between the AACCUP accreditors and program counterparts through designated breakout rooms for each academic program. Scheduled from July 27-31, 2026, the survey visit covers key accreditation areas, including instruction, faculty, curriculum, research, extension, library, laboratories, student support services, and administration to ensure that academic programs continue to meet national standards of quality and excellence.

The accreditation survey visit will conclude with the exit conferences scheduled from July 29 to 31, 2026, across the participating campuses.

Through this accreditation survey visit, Isabela State University reaffirms its unwavering commitment to strengthening its quality assurance initiatives, continuously improving its academic programs, and upholding the highest standards of higher education. By aligning its programs with nationally recognized accreditation standards, the University continues to advance its vision of becoming a globally competitive institution committed to excellence, innovation, and transformative education.

Isabela State University (ISU) participated in the 1st Workshop on University's IQA Implementation in the Philippines Using the AUN-QA IQA Management Toolkit Version 1.3, held on July 14-16, 2026, at Marikina Polytechnic College, Marikina City.

Jointly organized by IQAdvance, a collaborative initiative involving the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for Higher Education and Development (SEAMEO RIHED), the ASEAN Quality Assurance Network (AQAN), the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), and the ASEAN University Network (AUN), the workshop aimed to strengthen internal quality assurance (IQA) management practices among Philippine higher education institutions. It also sought to support universities in aligning their quality assurance systems with ASEAN standards and international best practices.

The workshop featured distinguished experts in higher education quality assurance from across Southeast Asia, including Dr. Dawisa Sritanyarat, Deputy Executive Director of AUN; Dr. Choltis Dhirathiti, Center Director of SEAMEO RIHED; Mr. Panupong Sriudom of SEAMEO RIHED; Dr. Ornlatcha Sivarak of Mahidol University, Thailand; Dr. Nguyen Huy P**c of the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; Dr. Clarita D. Carillo of the University of Santo Tomas; and Dr. Milabel E. Ho, President of AQAN and Executive Director of AACCUP.

Over the three-day workshop, more than 200 participants representing 54 State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) from across the Philippines engaged in informative lectures, hands-on workshops, in-depth discussions, and collaborative learning sessions on the implementation of effective internal quality assurance systems. The participants exchanged ideas, shared institutional experiences and good practices, and gained a deeper understanding of the AUN-QA IQA Management Toolkit Version 1.3 and the Eight Building Blocks of University Quality Management, which serve as guiding frameworks for strengthening institutional quality assurance and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

The AUN-QA IQA Management Toolkit Version 1.3 provides universities with practical frameworks and mechanisms for embedding quality assurance into institutional culture through continuous improvement, evidence-based management, and internationally aligned academic standards. The toolkit supports higher education institutions in strengthening institutional effectiveness, enhancing educational quality, and advancing ASEAN higher education integration.

𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐎𝐒𝐓 | 𝐒𝐃𝐆 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 | ISU achieves stronger global standing across all 17 SDGs in THE Impact Rankings 2026

Isabela State University (ISU) continues to strengthen its global footprint in sustainability and development as it secured notable improvements across nearly all Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the recently released 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings.

For its fourth round of participation in the said rankings, ISU was able to submit evidence for all 17 SDGs. With the recent results, ISU maintained its overall rank of 401–600 globally, while improving its standing in numerous SDG categories and sustaining competitive placements among Philippine higher education institutions. This sustained performance reflects the University's consistent commitment to integrate sustainability into instruction, research, extension, and governance.

𝐒𝐃𝐆 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬
Among the University's strongest performances was SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, where ISU achieved a remarkable global rank of 88, positioning the University among the world's leading institutions advancing transparent governance, participatory decision-making, and inclusive institutional frameworks.

ISU likewise posted impressive results in:
● SDG 1: No Poverty – Ranked 101–200 globally, maintaining its 2025 position and placing 2nd among participating Philippine institutions.
● SDG 2: Zero Hunger – Debuted in the 201–300 bracket, ranking 2nd in the Philippines.
● SDG 4: Quality Education – Improved to 301–400 globally from 601–800 in 2025, securing 2nd nationally.
● SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities – Advanced to 201–300 globally, improving from 301–400 and placing 3rd in the Philippines.

𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐀𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐃𝐆𝐬
The 2026 rankings reveal a broad upward trajectory across the University's sustainability portfolio. Out of the seventeen SDGs submitted, fifteen recorded improved rankings or new entries, while two sustained their previous positions, illustrating the University's growing impact across diverse areas of sustainable development.

ISU's performance also highlights its competitiveness within the Philippine higher education sector. The University is:
● 2nd place nationally in SDG 1, SDG 2, and SDG 4;
● 3rd place nationally in SDG 5, SDG 11, and SDG 17;
● 4th place nationally in SDG 6, SDG 8, SDG 9, SDG 10, SDG 13, SDG 14, SDG 15, and SDG 16; and
● 5th place nationally in SDG 3, SDG 7, and SDG 12.

The results of the 2026 THE Impact Rankings contribute to the mission of embedding sustainability within the University's institutional agenda. Isabela State University (ISU) successfully hosted the two-day General Orientation and Workshop on Institutional Accreditation (IA) to reinforce the University's commitment to quality assurance, academic excellence, and continuous improvement. The two-day activity was conducted on May 27-28, 2026, at the ISU-E Multipurpose Building, Echague, Isabela, with resource speakers from the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines, Inc. (AACCUP).

Organized by the ISU Quality Assurance Office in collaboration with the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (OVPAA), the orientation and workshop brought together university and campus officials, administrators, directors, faculty members, researchers, and non-academic personnel across the ISU System in preparation for the institutional accreditation process conducted by AACCUP.

On the first day, Dr. Milabel E. Ho, Executive Director of AACCUP, delivered a comprehensive discussion on institutional accreditation, particularly on the preparation of the IA Survey and IA Portfolio, which serve as critical requirements in the accreditation process. Dr. Ho emphasized that institutional accreditation is not merely a one-time compliance activity but a continuous cycle of improvement aimed at enhancing institutional quality and performance.

On the second day, the University IA Task Force, composed of participants assigned to the nine accreditation areas, presented the outputs of their respective groups. Dr. Ho provided constructive critiques of the presentations and shared expert insights based on AACCUP standards. A Q&A session followed, allowing participants to raise concerns and seek clarification on various aspects of the accreditation process before Dr. Ho continued with her discussion.

In the afternoon, Mr. Dominic T. Marquez, IT Unit Head of AACCUP, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the Uploading, Digitization, and Presentation of IA Materials. His discussion deepened participants' understanding of digital documentation and strengthened institutional readiness by guiding them on effectively organizing and presenting accreditation materials in digital formats.

The General Orientation and Workshop on Institutional Accreditation concluded with participants gaining a clearer understanding of the institutional accreditation process, its requirements, and its significance in ensuring that state universities and colleges uphold high standards in instruction, research, extension, and community service.

As ISU continues to pursue its vision of becoming a model Smart-Green University internationally recognized for positive societal transformation, activities such as this orientation and workshop play a vital role in ensuring that the University meets global quality standards. ISU remains steadfast in fostering a culture of academic excellence, innovation, continuous improvement, and quality assurance.
