Sulu State University Welcome Week, BIYAHI 2026: Walang Low bat sa Pangarap, Freshies, Charge na!

As part of the Sulu State University Welcome Week for Freshies, the School of Social Work continued one of its meaningful traditionsโ€”the Campus Tourโ€”held on August 19, 2026.

Following the Departmental and General Orientations, our future social workers, together with their faculty members, student council, and organizational leaders, explored the campus and became familiar with the places that will soon become part of their everyday university journey.

More than simply walking around the campus, the tour was a moment of connection, belonging, and celebration. It gave our freshmen the opportunity to meet the people who will guide and walk alongside them as they begin this new chapter.

As the first University Freshies, may you carry with you the legacy of those who came before you while creating your own meaningful story at Sulu State University.

Welcome to SuluSU, Freshies! ๐Ÿ’œ
May your journey be filled with learning, friendship, purpose, and dreams worth pursuing.

Your journey has begun. Walk with pride, serve with heart, and leave a legacy.

August 2, 2026|

Despite being miles apart, the School of Social Work once again demonstrated that distance is never a barrier when there is a shared purpose, dedication, and the power of technology. Through an online platform, the School successfully conducted its Faculty Meeting in preparation for the opening of the new academic semester.

The meeting was presided over by Asst. Prof. Hja. Dared Mailiza A. Alih, RSW, RN, LPT, MAN, MSSW, Dean of the School of Social Work, and Research Coordinator, Asst. Prof. Mark Anthony A. Buccat, RSW, MSSW, Ph.D, PD-SML, who led meaningful discussions on key academic and administrative matters to ensure a well-prepared, organized, and productive semester ahead.

Among the major agenda discussed were institutional updates, faculty work assignments and responsibilities, syllabus preparation, academic policies, and other relevant concerns that reinforce the School's commitment to excellence in teaching, research, extension, and community engagement.

The gathering also provided an opportunity for the School's full-time and part-time faculty members to connect, collaborate, and align their shared vision of delivering quality, relevant, and transformative social work education. Their active participation and exchange of ideas reflected the strong spirit of teamwork, professionalism, and commitment that continues to define the School of Social Work.

The School of Social Work likewise extends its deepest and most heartfelt appreciation to Assoc. Prof. Alijandrina T. Jalilul, RN, MAN, Ed.D., Vice President for Academic Affairs of Sulu State University, for her invaluable guidance, unwavering support, and inspiring words of encouragement. Her steadfast commitment to academic excellence, visionary leadership, and genuine dedication to empowering educators continue to inspire the School of Social Work in its pursuit of quality instruction, innovation, and transformative learning. Her presence served as a powerful reminder that strong leadership nurtures excellence, fosters collaboration, and empowers every educator to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students and the communities they will serve.
