Every headline begins with an idea. Every photograph captures a moment. Every story carries a voice. Behind every published piece is a team of passionate individuals who dedicate their time, talent, and creativity to telling stories that matter.

This more than just a campus organization. It is a collective of writers, photographers, artists, and storytellers united by a captures purpose: to inform, inspire, and give voice to the CPSU community. Through every article, captured frame, and creative work, the publication reflects the experiences, achievements, and stories that shape the university.

Their work is driven by curiosity, strengthened by collaboration, and guided by the responsibility of campus journalism. While each member brings different skills, perspectives, and ways of expression, they share one commitment—to tell stories with purpose, integrity, and passion.

𝗖𝗣𝗦𝗨 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝗦𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘂𝗺 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀

KABANKALAN CITY, Negros Occidental — Central Philippines State University (CPSU) held a Su***de Prevention Symposium themed “Be the Light: Supporting One Another” on September 16, 2026, at the Clemente Sports Complex, highlighting the importance of mental health awareness, su***de prevention, and seeking professional support.

The symposium brought together the CPSU community for discussions on su***de, mental health, and the importance of supporting one another. The event was organized to remind students that their lives and mental health matter.

Dr. Aubrey Ginelle P. Rallos, Dean of the Office of Student Services and Affairs (OSSA), gave an inspiring message encouraging students to practice self-love, take care of themselves, and remain attentive throughout the symposium.

Ma'am Sune Quintab, GC III, Director of the Student’s Admission and Facilitative Enhancement Center (SAFE Center), introduced the guest speaker, Dr. Mark T. Ortibano, RPsy, RPm, CFT, DAAETS, highlighting his professional background in clinical psychology, assessment psychology, forensic traumatology, and related fields.

Dr. Ortibano led the discussion on su***de prevention by presenting statistical information on su***de cases in Negros Occidental and around the world. He also addressed common misconceptions and stereotypes surrounding su***de and suicidal individuals, emphasizing the importance of understanding the issue through accurate information and compassion.
The discussion also covered mental health, its contributing factors, warning signs, and the importance of seeking professional help. Dr. Ortibano emphasized that individuals do not need to be diagnosed with depression to seek assistance, reminding students that mental health support is available to anyone who may be struggling.

He further discussed mental health first aid and the importance of referring individuals experiencing mental health difficulties to qualified professionals. He also stressed how important it is to offer compassion, timely help, and mutual understanding to people facing difficult times.

A moment of silence followed the discussion, accompanied by dimmed lights and a closing message. This moment served as a reminder that every individual’s mental health matters and that no one should feel alone in their struggles.

The symposium also highlighted the role of the SAFE Center in providing support to students facing mental health concerns. The personnel in the center continue to serve as a place where students can seek guidance, assistance, and a safe space to express their concerns.

This event served as a reminder to the CPSU community that seeking help is a meaningful step toward addressing mental health challenges. It promotes the importance of compassion, support, and collective responsibility in creating a university environment where every student feels valued and cared for.

𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 (𝗖𝗣𝗦𝗨) 𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝘀 𝗗𝗿. 𝗠𝗮𝗲 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗿 𝗚. 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗱𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗺 𝗮𝘀 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁.

Earning the majority vote from the distinguished Board of Regents, she has been officially named the 3rd University President, succeeding outgoing President Dr. Aladino C. Moraca.

Her term formally begins September 29, 2026. As our first woman to lead the institution, the entire CPSU family extends its sincere congratulations and enthusiastic welcome — grateful for her willingness to steer CPSU toward greater excellence and broader opportunities.

There are days when the world feels too heavy, when silence wraps around you, and you feel as though you are walking alone. But that feeling is not the whole story.

KABANKALAN CITY, Negros Occidental – With a renewed commitment to duty, sacrifice, and leadership, Class Himakas of the Central Philippines State University (CPSU) College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) formally pinned and donned their uniforms during a ceremony held on September 4, 2026.

The Donning and Pinning Ceremony marked a significant milestone for the students as they embraced the responsibilities and values associated with the criminal justice profession. The ceremonial donning of their uniforms symbolized not only their identity as CCJE students but also their growing commitment to discipline, integrity, courage, and public service.

Anchored on the theme “Duty. Sacrifice. Leadership.”, the ceremony emphasized the values expected of future criminal justice professionals. It served as a reminder that their chosen profession demands more than academic knowledge, requiring them to develop character, accountability, and dedication to serving others.

Serving as the guest speaker, Police Lieutenant Colonel (PLtCol) John G. Ganzon shared his message with Class Himakas, offering insights and encouragement as the students continue preparing for their future careers in the criminal justice field. His presence added significance to the occasion as the class took another step toward their chosen profession.

Meanwhile, Elmer Manzanares, Dean of the College of Criminal Justice Education, stood alongside Class Himakas as they marked the important milestone. His presence highlighted the college’s guidance and support for the students as they progress toward their professional goals.

Also gracing the event was Mary Grace Noreen P., PhD, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, whose presence reflected the university community’s support for the students’ academic and professional development.

The ceremony concluded with closing remarks from Sir Michel E. Betongga, who reinforced the significance of the occasion and reminded the students of the responsibilities that come with wearing the CCJE uniform.

For Class Himakas, the uniform represents more than their identity as CCJE students. It carries the responsibility to uphold the values of the criminal justice profession and to serve others with honor, integrity, and dedication.

As they move forward in their academic and professional journey, Class Himakas carries with them the message of the ceremony—to embody duty in service, sacrifice for others, and leadership with integrity.
