The Dipolog School of Fisheries hosted the Retrieval Program happened on August 6, 2026 at Olingan, Dipolog City, Zamboanga Del Norte with the partnership of Sultan Kudarat State University- Kalamansig Campus.
The retrieval was spearheaded by Dr. Karen Catane, OJT Coordinator and Campus Dean, whose guidance and support helped make the activity a meaningful culmination of the internship journey. Together with Sir Jay Lemosnero who shared valuable insights about the essence of hardwork, patience and respect for being an intern.

As the saying goes, “The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.” The OJT reminded the students of Sultan Kudarat State University- Kalamansig Campus that becoming a successful fisheries professional is not simply about completing 240 hours—it is about the choices they make along the way. Choosing to learn when things are difficult, choosing to persevere when they feel tired, choosing to work with others, and choosing to give their best in every task are the decisions that shape the professionals they aspire to become. Every challenge, mistake, achievement, and experience became a stepping stone toward the person they are determined to be.

It also became a journey of learning, adjustment, teamwork, and personal growth. Together with their fellow students from Dipolog School of Fisheries (DSF), Jose Rizal Memorial State University (JRMSU) and Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST), the experience created an environment where knowledge and skills were shared, friendships were built, and every task became an opportunity to learn something new.

The fisheries students of Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) officially embarked on their 240-hour On-the-Job Training (OJT) deployment at DSF (Zamboanga del Norte) from June 22 to August 7, 2026. This deployment marked an important step in their academic journey as they transitioned from classroom-based learning to actual field experience in the fisheries sector.

Throughout the 240-hour training, the students were given opportunities to apply their knowledge and skills in real-world fisheries operations. The experience allowed them to become more familiar with workplace practices, develop technical competencies, strengthen their sense of responsibility, and gain a deeper appreciation of the challenges and opportunities within the fisheries industry.

More than just completing the required hours, the OJT served as a valuable learning experience that helped prepare the students for their future careers. Every task, challenge, and lesson gained at DSF contributed to their growth as aspiring fisheries professionals. As they completed their deployment on August 7, 2026, they carried with them not only new skills and experiences but also greater confidence and determination to contribute to the sustainable development of the fisheries sector.
