Jakarta, Indonesia โ Ifugao State University (IFSU) is strengthening its global presence through its participation in the Global Sustainable Development Congress (GSDC) 2026, one of the world's premier gatherings dedicated to advancing sustainable development through collaboration among higher education institutions, governments, industries, and civil society organizations.
Held from June 22 to 25, 2026, at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD in Jakarta, Indonesia, the fifth edition of the Congress brings together more than 5,000 global thought leaders, policymakers, researchers, innovators, and university leaders from over 100 countries to forge partnerships and accelerate progress toward the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event is organized by Times Higher Education (THE), publisher of the THE World University Rankings and Impact Rankings.
The University's participation reflects its pursuit to internationalization and sustainability that accelerated during the administration of Dr. Eva Marie Codamon-Dugyon. Under her leadership, IFSU expanded its global partnerships, strengthened its internationalization agenda, and gained increasing recognition in world university rankings. Today, the University continues to build on these achievements as it advances its position in the global higher education landscape.
Joining the delegation is Clyde B. Pumihic, International Relations Officer, who is reconnecting with existing partner institutions and engaging prospective collaborators to discuss academic mobility, joint programs, research cooperation, and other internationalization initiatives.
Adding to IFSU's presence at the Congress, Dr. Jennifer Madonna G. Dait serves as one of the resource speakers, joining experts and university leaders from around the world in discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions on sustainability strategies and the role of higher education institutions in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals.
The IFSU delegation joins 163 representatives from 93 Philippine higher education institutions comprising the official Philippine delegation to the Congress.
A key highlight of the event is the announcement of the 2026 Times Higher Education Sustainability Ratings results, which assess universities worldwide based on their contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals. The ratings serve as an important benchmark for measuring how higher education institutions create positive social, environmental, and economic impact in their communities and beyond.
The GSDC provides IFSU with valuable opportunities to engage with global leaders, strengthen international partnerships, and showcase the University's initiatives in sustainability, community engagement, indigenous knowledge conservation, and inclusive education.
Newly appointed University President Dr. Freddie B. Caday emphasized the importance of sustaining the University's gains in global engagement and international recognition.
"World university rankings serve as important indicators of institutional development, quality assurance, and internationalization. The achievements that IFSU has attained through the years are products of collective dedication and visionary leadership. These accomplishments are valuable legacies that deserve to be sustained and strengthened as we continue positioning IFSU as a globally engaged university," said Dr. Caday.
