Academic excellence was showcased on April 24, 2026 at the Heritage Convention Hall during the 6th International Undergraduate Research Congress. This event gathered many capable learners from different institutions. Representing the Psychology Program were three students in total. She stood out because she gave an excellent performance, presented her work clearly, and showed deep understanding of her topic. Her hard work and preparation truly showed in every part of her presentation, which made her achievement well earned. This great success would not be possible without proper guidance and support from her research adviser, Sir Donato Oxiles Abaya, Dean of the College or Arts and Sciences. His mentorship and guidance played a key role in helping her reach this wonderful milestone, as well as in supporting the other students who represented the program.

This recognition brings great pride not only to Ms. Dag-o and her fellow student representatives but also to the whole Psychology Program. It clearly shows that students from the Psychology Program are capable of achieving high standards in academic events. Their collective success serves as a good example and inspiration to other students to always do their best in their studies and research works. Congratulations, Ms. Heaven Bles B. Dag-o. This achievement is truly well deserved. Ang galing!

The program is coordinated by AB Political Science OJT Coordinator Kenneth Brian Lagahe Chalajchaj, who oversees the placements and ensures students gain direct exposure to governance and law while applying classroom theories in real-world settings.

The OJT underscores the programโ€™s vision of bridging theory and practice, immersing students in legislative drafting, policy analysis, legal research, and administrative functions. It also provides opportunities to observe accountability mechanisms, grassroots governance, and the delivery of public service.

Interns are assigned to national agencies such as the House of Representatives, Commission on Human Rights, Commission on Elections, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Public Works and Highways, and the Commission on Audit. At the local level, placements include Baguio City Hall, Santiago City Hall, and municipal offices such as the Sangguniang Bayan and City Legal Office. Legal and law enforcement institutions, including the Philippine National Police Legal Office, Internal Affairs Service, Public Attorneyโ€™s Office, and the Office of the Prosecutor, also host interns, alongside private law firms.

Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Jennifer Garingan-Dait commended the initiative, saying: โ€œWe commend our Political Science interns for their dedication to public service. Their OJT reflects IFSUโ€™s commitment to producing graduates who are academically competent and professionally prepared to contribute meaningfully to governance and nation-building.โ€

ICDC Coordinator for Lamut, Mr. Andres M. Cuyasan, likewise emphasized: โ€œThis OJT program strengthens employability by immersing students in real institutions of governance and law. It amplifies the vision of the Career Development Center to prepare graduates who are confident, skilled, and socially responsible.โ€

AB Political Science Chairperson May T. Kirtug highlighted the academic value of the program: โ€œThe internship allows our students to test and refine the theories they study in class, giving them a deeper understanding of governance and political behavior.โ€

College Dean Dr. Donato Oxiles Abaya also expressed support: โ€œThis deployment reflects the College of Arts and Sciencesโ€™ commitment to holistic education. By engaging with institutions of governance and justice, our students are better prepared to serve society with competence and integrity.โ€

The deployment of 159 interns demonstrates IFSUโ€™s continuing effort to align academic programs with practical training, reinforcing its vision of โ€œEmployed IFSU Graduatesโ€ and its mission to prepare students for meaningful careers in governance, law, and public service. # Kenneth BLC.

Political Science (PolSci) students embarked on a three-day educational tour in Manila from March 17 to 19, gaining first-hand insight into the operations of the three branches of government as part of their courses Introduction to Philippine Politics and Governance and Philippine Public Administration.

On the first day, students visited the Manila City Hall Clock Tower, where they encountered artworks by renowned Filipino artists and learned the history of past Manila mayors. They also went to Luneta Park to gain knowledge about Rizalโ€™s life before proceeding to the Teus Mansion, where they discovered the achievements of past Presidents of the Philippines.

On the second day, the group visited the Senate of the Philippines and joined Plenary Session No. 58 to deepen their understanding of the legislative body. They also explored the Senate museum, where past senatorsโ€™ state gifts, paintings, and achievements were displayed, and interacted with senatorsโ€”an experience that enhanced their observation and critical thinking, fostered new ideas, and sparked curiosity.

On the final day, students participated in a team-building activity designed to strengthen problem-solving, communication, and quick thinking through collaborative and decision-making challenges.

The tour concluded with visits to the National Museum of Natural History and the National Museum of Anthropology, where students viewed historical artifacts, fossils, and cultural exhibits, gaining a deeper understanding of the countryโ€™s past and its people.

BSDC-3 Students Launch "DCTalks" Radio Magazine Program to Boost Ifugao Forestry and Agriculture

The pioneering batch of Bachelor of Science in Development Communication (BSDC-3) students has officially launched their first radio magazine program, titled "DCTalks: Makinig, Makiusisa, Makialam." Tailored for a general audience with a specific focus on those interested in Forestry and Agriculture, the program serves as a vital platform for discussing issues that are both timely and relevant to the Ifugao Province.

The session was led by Dr. Napoleon K. Taguiling, Dean of the College of Agriculture and Sustainable Development, who addressed and debunked common myths surrounding the traditional Muyung system. His discussion highlighted that this indigenous practice is not only culturally significant but is a vital, evolving contributor to modern environmental sustainability.

The program's second segment featured Mr. Nemie Rex S. Guerzon, Chair of the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, who shifted the conversation toward the economic welfare of the community. He emphasized the importance of empowering local farmers by enhancing the promotion of their produce within the market.

The "DCTalks" was strategically launched to maximize the students' technical skills, providing them with hands-on experience in handling live, spontaneous discussions.

By bridging the gap between academic expertise and community needs, the program prepares students for the complexities of development communication while advocating for the province's primary industries.

Aligned to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), this student-led initiative actively contributes to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

By providing specialized communication training and disseminating expert knowledge, the project advances SDG 4 (Quality Education).

The focus on the Muyung system and sustainable land management aligns with SDG 15 (Life on Land), which aims to protect and restore terrestrial ecosystems.

Furthermore, the programโ€™s advocacy for local farmers and market promotion supports SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), fostering a more sustainable and prosperous agricultural economy for the people of Ifugao.

Stay tuned for more similar activities prepared by the BSDC Program

Industry Tour 2 has finally come to an end but what we gained goes far beyond the destination. It was a journey filled with learning, growth, challenges, and unforgettable experiences that shaped us into stronger future tourism professionals.

It wasnโ€™t perfect there were lapses, unexpected moments, and trials along the way. But despite it all, we stood our ground, held on to each other, and pushed through until the very end.

Because thatโ€™s what real journeys are made of not just beautiful places, but resilience, unity, and the courage to keep going.

And now, we end this chapter not just complete but stronger, wiser, and more inspired than ever. ๐Ÿ’™โœจ

Empowering Future Advocates: Global Connect Seminar-Workshop

On April 20, 2026, the 1st Year BS Social Work students successfully conducted the seminar-workshop titled Global Connect: A Transcultural Understanding of Social Work, held at the EMCD Building. The event gathered participants to explore the important connection between social work practice and the judicial system.

The program began with an opening prayer led by Mr. Ian Laye Aidon, followed by a warm welcome from Mr. Denver P. Rivera. The guest speaker was introduced by instructor Mr. Harris David D. Lumayna, after which Mrs. Rogeline D. Binsay, Social Welfare Officer II, delivered her insightful discussion.

Mrs. Binsay focused on the roles of court social workers, highlighting their responsibilities within the Philippine justice systemโ€”from serving as a support person and Guardian Ad Litem to providing professional assessments as expert witnesses. The session concluded with an engaging open forum, allowing students to actively participate and raise their questions, followed by closing remarks from Program Chairperson, Mr. Glenn Paulo K. Labasan.

This seminar served as a meaningful learning experience for aspiring social workers. As future practitioners, it is essential to understand that the profession carries significant responsibilities guided by laws and ethical standards. Through this knowledge, they are better equipped to protect the rights of vulnerable individuals and promote justice with compassion.

LAMUT, IFUGAO โ€” Social work interns of Ifugao State University (IFSU) took the spotlight as they presented their community case studies and narratives during the Community Case Study and Narrative Presentation held on April 13โ€“14, 2026, at the AVR, Main Library.

Anchored on the theme โ€œShowcasing Community Realities,โ€ the activity served as a venue for interns to present the outcomes of their fieldwork across various communities. Drawing from their social investigations, the interns shared comprehensive community profiles and the interventions they implemented, reflecting their immersion in Municipal Social Welfare and Development Offices (MSWDOs) in Kiangan, Lamut, Villaverde, Diadi, Lagawe, Banaue, Hingyon, Asipulo, Saguday, and Santiago City.

The program formally opened with an invocation, followed by welcome remarks from Gemmaly P. Balog, RSW, LPT, Social Work Instructor, who underscored the importance of grounding social work practice in real community experiences. Glenn Paulo K. Labasan, Program Chairperson, then led the orientation on presentation guidelines, setting the tone for a structured and cohesive flow of presentations.

Throughout the sessions, interns presented pressing community concerns, including poverty, family welfare issues, and limited access to essential services, alongside the organizing processes and community-driven interventions they facilitated. Their presentations highlighted the critical role of community participation, empowerment, and collective action in addressing local challenges.

Providing professional insights, a panel composed of Berlie Humiwat-Obal, RSW, MSSW; Silverio N. Dulawan, RSW, MPA; and Harris David D. Lumayna, RSW, Social Work Instructors, evaluated the presentations and delivered constructive feedback aimed at sharpening the internsโ€™ competencies in community organizing.

More than an academic requirement, the activity stood as a testament to the internsโ€™ growing role as community organizers, bridging theory and practice, and reinforcing their commitment to responsive and transformative social work.
